Next time, you should tweak the vibrancy of the world, just slightly, on and off. Add an ambience mod that plays sounds like walking, a stick breaking, or leaves rustling behind the player, and tweaked circus music and children laughing, and indecipherable whispering, but just audibly so you can barely hear it. Every once in a while, something tiny and dark sprints from one shadow to another and disappears. One in every... 50 or so mobs stand silently, staring at you. Their heads follow you. After about 10 seconds they run at you and disappear. Harvesting a crop will rarely spawn a bug that flies up at you, and despawns in the distance. While the sun is out, just for a minute or so, make it dark like a storm, but shine the sun brighter. Make random blocks become soft like quicksand or snow. Make random trees smack the player, and return to normal.
