Is it weird that I only knew the suggested answer to the hard question? I don't typically use notes or create anything dynamically in excel(but knew methods for achieving something similar) but data validation is 80% of my job most days so this that trick has been one of my go to's for years.

For the duplicate exercise , one must first ensure that there are no duplicates in each of the lists separately . Otherwise, values will be highlighted without being in the two lists
