Honestly, the shoe factory remark was an instant like.
Putting the stones in place when they are still wet and letting them cure in place would have allowed them to conform to each other tightly enough to reduce weeding and erosion.
I make my rocks with cement and sand. I used to bag them to set, but now I just make a firmer mixture than yours and I mold and leave to dry. Use another ( smaller) cement stone to sand it quickly. Turns out lovely. I paint some of mine with flowers and such (acrylic paint) then varnish the ones I decorate. I make many things in the garden and plan to have my own channel soon.
The accent and the bit about watering the rocks to make them grow with a straight face = like!
Love the scowling eldest daughter. Clearly her fav activity lol.
Thx for making this. I'm actually TRYING to redo my front yard by myself. It's not easy ,I'm not in the best of shape & not 25yrs old anymore. So I'm always looking for easy, fast tips for gardening tips .
I love this! And I love the way you always incorporate your whole family in these projects. They seem to enjoy it, too. One day, they'll appreciate it even more.
"I ask myself what would a socially conscious shoe company do then I make the women and children do it". That burn on Nike alone was worth the like.
Let them cure over a concave surface, such as a bowl, and you can get larger pieces with less material. Noted by some is storing plastic inside to boost the size as well. Either way makes the "rocks" larger and a more efficient process. Plus they are lighter and easier to rearrange. Any rocks with a pocket under them are great for hiding things as well.
My tip is to save up your grocery store plastic bags and use those maybe? Liked this video. Thanks.π
Very good. But some tips - if you live in an area with cold, frosty, icy winters, I suggest you add some of the fibre strands that reinforces concrete to help prevent cracking, and secondly I would recommend you seal the concrete using a sealant. I have used Thompsons Water Seal here in the UK, but there are many different brands. That will also help them not to crack due to winter weather (the water ingresses into the concrete and when it freezes, it expands and creates cracks). Also, the sealant I used leaves a satin type finish (some sealants can leave a glossy type finish) which helps to make it look more like stone.
You are that neighbor everyone needs. Such a fun guy.
You totally crack me up, and this seems like a fun project that turned out looking great! I just might have some concrete rocks to create in the near future, but instead of buying drop cloths, I'll use the plastic shopping bags that nearly every store sends your purchases home in. Besides, the plastic grocery bags are heavier than the drop-cloth plastic.
Lol I can't wait to try this I need so many rocks around my home. Thanks for sharing good job.
Nothing beats family fun like getting stoned together! π€£ππ€£ππ»ππ»πΊπΈ
I just had to watch someone make fake rocks. Turned out fairly good. I'm so glad that I can just go out in a nearby bush where I've dumped a hundred tons of rocks through the years and pick out some rocks
Your family members actually seemed to enjoy being part of the process. Final look of the faux stones was very nice.
I saw someone do this in zip lock type sandwich size bags 3/4 full & pulled tight. Then he set them where they were going to go. Next day ripped off the bags & they looked like cobblestones! U done good dude! π
Lol I like that u showed us the blooper of the plastic bursting and the cement falling through π
