βThe blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits. It's better keeping the roots alive, because it means better fruits from now on. The blues are the roots of all American music. As long as American music survives, so will the blues." ~ Willie Dixon (1915β1992)
I love Jerry Portnoy ππππ what a Great Talent.!!!!!πππππππβββ
I knew Muddy Waters and he was such a great guy. I grew up not knowing he was famous until he passed and wow! I can say my Nick name from Muddy was β little fat so β I ate with him ,etc. Westmont Illinois!!!! β€οΈ
If any Muddy fans ever get an opportunity to go to the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, MS, it has a big exhibit dedicated to only Mr. Muddy . In fact, his childhood entire log cabin was reassembled and remains in his exhibit area. Thereβs a life sized statue of him in the cabin that scared the hell outta my wife as she didnβt spot it when walking in. π. That museum is so awesome, although Clarksdale is way out in the delta and quite a distance from anywhere.
Muddy is the Man π
I wish Muddy was still in our presence today performing the great songs he made famous many years ago
Jerry Portnoy! One of the greatest. He had his own style and sound and it is unmistakable.
Wow, Jerry!
Cgilbert To James cotton is a awesome Harmonica and may peace be upon you
Iwas born in the early forties so igrew up listening to the blues and i love it .
The blues is the d n a of all music
I've seen every one of these players except Muddy....What was i thinking?!!!!! One of my Biggest musical regrets.
This is the definition of the blues son No could do it like Muddy Waters and he he had a great band to even before the great Jonny Winters started playing with him But Jonny and Muddy Waters went together like peanut butter and jelly There wouldnβt be any Rockin Roll if it was not for these great blues players from the 1940βs and 50βs But like I said no one could do it like Muddy Waters He was the best to me just because of his lyrics and the sound of his voice
What a sweet intro on the harmonica...!!!
Every time I think I've found a favorite version of these songs, these versions come onto youtube!!
