This demo is a million times better than the one on Michael. I love this. You can tell that Michael really wanted this version he made to work together. Quincy would have made it sound so sonic.

incredible, i thought we'd never get to hear this version! i can see why Quincy Jones didn't like the idea at all, but damn, it would've been so cool to see this song included in Thriller regardless. also loving to hear a different mix of the song itself, it's pretty evident from this clean and dry mix just how amazing musicians YMO were, Takahashi and Sakamoto were a gift.

This track has increasingly been my favorite demo from Michael. It sounds so modern yet you can tell this recording never went past the rough draft phase. Imagine if this song was mastered and completed, it would become another timeless classic and sound something very similar to Tame Impala.

I don't know the story to this but I find it fascinating that Michael was aware of and wanting to cover the song of such a unique band as Yellow Magic Orchestra - as a long time supporter of Michael I have to say I wasn't aware of just how broad his contemporary musical awareness was to the point where he was jamming out to niche synth pop artists. I knew he was very aware of multiple genres but the fact that he was digging synth pop and probably new romantic stuff too - I love that! I heard recently that he wanted to work with Duran Duran and reached out to them at one point and it just made me think how incredibly broad his music abilities and tastes were
