Thank you!!! Just graduated from BSc Economics and I am shopping for jobs. Your videos about interviews helped me SMASH my first job interview ever (I’m now just waiting for an outcome). This is awesome - thank you!!!
Thanks for this video, Erin. Your knowledge and kindness will always be appreciated. On my end, I graduated college last year at 31 y.o. because of many bad circumstances that didn't allow me to go to college either, and I have the opposite problem. I love my career and I see no problem having a 9-5 work on it, but sadly I couldn't get a solid job until now, which forced me to further postpone projects like moving to an apartment of my own, having to move cities with relatives (which I don't have the best relationship with), lack of money overall, etc. I just wish I had more emotional support during this time of my life now that I managed to reach my goal. Sorry for this, I kinda wanted to vent.
We all need an Erin in our careers. This was relatable and so insightful! Being entrepreneur/independent/freelancer/side-hustler feels like the only way to break the loop, regardless of already having a 9-5 (or not). Looking forward to the next ep! ❤️
I think this caller touches on something important, though. People are tired of selling their labor to make a bunch of billionaires even richer, never having real vacations or getting to truly invest in themselves outside a retirement fund. Sure, anyone can start a business, but in order to survive, you need capital and cash. Hard to save up when the company pays you as little as they can get away with.
Absolutely love this new format and series! This topic was fantastic and I think you provided a great deal of valuable information and advice. This is an area of interest for me (finding a viable path towards getting out of the corporate hustle and possibly pursuing my own business), although I'm much further along in my career, so I believe a side hustle would be advantageous as a means to make a career transition more smoothly given all of my personal, family, and financial obligations. I wonder if it would be beneficial to have a recap right before the end that touches on the highlights? Either way, this is great stuff and I look forward to the next episode. Thanks for all you do!
Erin I’ve been watching your videos for 2 years and now I’m abt to graduate lol. talk about good timing! Thank you!
Erin on her way to become a real influencer
OMG WHAT A TIMING, I WAS ALSO LIKE TESSA ,but now the SPONGE ADVICE,AM GONNA TRY IT
Erin, what separates an entrepreneurial spirit from a 9-5 worker? Is it just the desire to work on your own time and directly benefit from your own effort?
I am deciding to jump off of research or not. (Low pay, extreme job insecurity, but flexible work days and meaningful work). I just finished my PhD and I can go in two opposite directions now. But how can I be at work at 8am? Why do I need time from 15:30 and out? I don't have children or anything to do until 19:00. So why can't work start late 😭 Waking up at 6am? Why!? I am not a farmer.
You don't have to work 40h, can do with less but it will have a financial impact. It's possible though.
Graduated in May with my BS in Family Studies and Social Services. Struggling with the same thing, but for different reasons. I definitely do NOT have an entrepreneurial spirit, that's not my thing, and I don't mind working for someone else. Where I struggle is My worst case scenario getting to 65 or my deathbed or whichever is that I never saw the world and I never broke free from the crazy 9:00 to 5 40 hours a week schedule to go and truly experience other cultures.
Reading the title, I suddenly realized that I’ve been working over 50 hours per week for the past two years.
I applied! I can’t wait to hear episode 2!
Erin, what’s your view on capitalism? socialism?
How about being a mother?
Hi Erin, love your content. Going for an interview but its in the company i already work at, its a promotion opportunity. Any advice for this kind of situation? I know the culture, I'm there over 5 years. Thanks so much ❤
