For students in the medical field, this sort of hands on training really makes a difference. This get them one step closer to saving a person's life when it comes down to the real thing. Although the simulations are very life-like, there is no substitute for the real thing. When in an operating room, there is no end to the list of things that could possibly go wrong. But with each advancement in technology and training, doctors can be more prepared to face those challenges and that is the biggest issue. Without confidence, a doctor wouldn't be good at their job. By learning how to use the latest technology and techniques, students in the medical field can gain the confidence needed to be good doctors, surgeons, and nurses.

In school, teachers are always pushing for more hands on activities, more and more simulations, and real life scenarios.  As I began to watch the video, I thought I was watching a live surgery take place, but once it was all over with and the camera zoomed out it revealed that it was just a simulation.  This is incredible and it will help students tremendously!!  CPR dummies help us to become comfortable with knowing how to give mouth to mouth and now heart surgery patients can feel a little more comfortable knowing that students had the practice on a pretty realistic heart surgery simulator.  It's pretty cool that people from Hollywood came up with this idea as well, not just special effects savvy I see.

I love this. I believe that these new simulations that are extremely realistic and human like will truly improve health care. Being able to practice on life like models that move and bleed like a real person will allow health care professionals to be exposed to certain conditions and trauma before actually seeing it with a patient. This will dramatically improve the chances of survival. Professionals will be able to practice and retain more information when there is not a life on the line. Then, once the physician sees this condition in their field of work they will be prepared, calm, and confident. These simulations will help prevent simple mistakes. Hands on training like this may be the difference between life or death for a real patient.
