How is the NHS ever going to function properly when there is a conflict between pharma profits and public health?
Hi Dr Campbell, I have followed your channel since 2020 and always find your videos informative and interesting. I am a retired NHS Biomedical scientist and have performed Vitamin D analysis in the past. It used to be a very expensive test, so was rationed to those patients in the highest need. However, since I retired, I believe the testing of Vit D has moved to a more automated methodology and may be cheaper to do. It may still be worth a chat to your GP to see if they are willing to do it at your local hospital. With respect, the test that you were using on your video, would not be acceptable in a medical laboratory, NHS or Private, (at least, not in my day!) These home testing kits can be hit and miss in my experience. If I may offer a suggestion, it would be to get a blood test done by an accredited laboratory, even if you have to have one privately, before you up the Vit D dosage, then you could confirm the test kit was accurate or not, it would also confirm that you are taking the correct amount of Vit D or not. If you up your dose and then use a different kit you still won't know which one made the difference. I take 6000iu a day of D with a meal containing fat or a glass of whole milk to improve absorption. I haven't had my levels checked but I seem to be avoiding all the respiratory illnesses that are afflicting my friends and family, so, fingers crossed. Thanks for all the work you do - you are one of the good guys.
Dr. Campbell, you are a hero. Take good care of yourself.
Thanks!
Please do a follow-up to this video a month or so from now with the same test if you up your intake of vitamin D, it would be really interesting to see if the tests pick it up.
This is a very interesting point. I work in hospital labs and we require a reason to request vitamin d level test. Taking into consideration that we are in a country with low sunshine exposure you would think that there would be an emphasis on testing.
GPs in Ireland won't test for Vit D . I was told on numerous occasions that "labs won't test for Vit D unless extremely necessary". Needed to get it done for my daughter, I finally found a Polish doctor who said "absolutely, it must be tested". Surprise, surprise her levels were at 28 (insufficient). Its a basic test that needs to be done especially when we don't get enough sunshine here.
What’s shocking is, when you read The Hidden War on Healthcare by Alex Pierce you’ll realize how blinded you were regarding health. That book has some serious knowledge everyone should know.
People misunderstand how important magnesium is to absorb vitamin d 😊
Vit D works with Vit K2 AND MAGNESIUM. Get your magnesium checked.
Why would the government want to reduce death and suffering?
I used to take supplements thinking they’d fix everything, but I was completely stuck. It wasn’t until I read books like Banned Spartan Rituals and started applying the right methods that my energy, strength, and health skyrocketed.
I pay for a test of my Vit D levels by a NHS lab in Birmingham, it costs me about £30.00, but I would trust it more than the test you did. I take 5000 in daily with k2 and plus magnesium . After 5 years my levels are 98, so still within the guidelines. Haven't had a cold for years , never had flu' age 75 living in Northern UK.
It would be interesting to see simultaneous, side by side testing with several kits.
My great grandmother was an Am Indian medicine woman and my other great grandmother was an Irish herbalist. They KNEW what they were doing and lived to be VERY healthy and VERY old! Know your herbs, eat well, exercise, laugh, love, and STAY AWAY FROM DOKTORS!!!
Three things that changed my life: 1. started new diet 2. read book called Rethinking Health Secrets 3. stopped eating excess sugar
My husband routinely tests children in his ped ortho practice in Louisiana and finds all children low in Vit D.
I increased my vitamin D level 20,000 IU daily from 10,000. Had my vitamin D level checked and now it at 73 ng/ml. Fighting prostate and lung cancer so after listening to your and other podcasts decided getting it high is beneficial.
I have had several vit d tests over the last 10-15 years! Many years ago in Canada a notice was sent out to the health food stores to get blood tests and recommended 5,000 IU per day. At the time after testing this put me in a good range! When covid came and being stuck inside without getting much sun, I got another test which showed low. I increased to 8,000 IU per day and tested 3 months later and it was still low! I increased to 12,500 IU per day and got a good reading. I owned and operated health food stores for 40+ years, dont get conned into expensive vit d, the cheapest works.
