This guy and Matty are the realest dudes on Golf YouTube. No bullshit. No nonsense. I really appreciate that.
Love this. Thank you. No, it’s not your fault for leaving the door unlocked. It’s the thief’s fault for stealing your stuff!
Excellent tip. You are about the only guy that says "hit the ball farther" on youtube. That , to me, is the correct way to say it. Most others say further.
You're the only person I've found who has said this. I did this naturally when I first started and absolutely compressed the hell outta the ball. You're 100% correct. For whatever reason I thought it was wrong and went with a more "traditional" setup and haven't hit it like I did when I was new to golf. Recently I've gone back to this and the impact and compression I make with the ball is nuts. Right on man!! Also, bummer you got robbed. On a brighter note, your hair looks immaculate.
Two years of playing golf, plenty of lessons from PGA 'pros', and I still couldn't hit irons/hybrids consistently -- until I saw this video. I've been to the range every day this week and focused on leaning the shaft forward and positioning the ball just right of center. I'm now crushing the ball! Additionally, I worked on the "low and slow" method yesterday with great results. Can't wait to take this new swing to the course tomorrow. Thanks Jimmy - I'm going to buy your 3 hour video this weekend as a means of thanking you!
I especially appreciate that you play a hole using your tip, giving it better perspective to the game improvement.
I watched this video 2 days ago. Today was the first day I actually got to try it. Unbelievable. Between this lesson and the lesson for seniors and people with physical problems, those 2 lessons were simply miraculous. I put that easy tempo swing with the Trevino left hand over my left foot. I literally gained 10 yards, bullet straight, lower trajectory, with spin. No more high stress on my lower back. I got done and felt like I had a nice walk in the sun. My ball position is just past middle towards the right foot. I haven’t had that much fun playing 12 holes in probably 2-3 years. I really like your chill way of giving lessons. If you get a bogie, it’s ok. That’s the type of golf I want to play. It’s not the end of the world if you can’t shoot par all the time. I also like the hot tub thing!
Jimmy, this tip has revitalized my golf game. I was getting minimal distance out of my irons and now it feels like I’m compressing the ball and hitting it longer and straighter.
Just from playing around with things like this when I'm practicing, I can vouch for this being legit. Compression like you would not believe.
You are a true pro. Great attitude after challengomh morning...yet you Drove your instructions home. Way to go..can't wait to get to the course.. The mics work thanks
Lee Trevino taught me how to play golf, 50yrs ago awesome ball striking techniques thank you! Lee
you are a natural no nonsense guy on camera , love the tips thank you for sharing .
Hi Jimmy, thanks for this video - perfect attitude to golf & good course management insight. I followed Trevino every hole in the final round of the 1971 Open at Birkdale. On one of the early holes he was about 25 ft from the hole. He stalked around the putt then hit it firmly. As it went into the hole (I think for par), I looked back at Trevino - he was already walking to the next tee! On the 11th he pulled his tee shot up into a sand dune in the left rough, close to me. The ball was a foot below his feet on sand. He described the shot he would play to his caddie, then hit a low penetrating seven iron, off his back foot onto the uphill green - astonishing. He went on to win, and to this day he's the best ball striker I've ever seen, live. Your tip here is how Trevino played every golf shot.
Props for still making the video after your stuff was stolen 👏 Trevino was my dads favorite player.him and nancy lopez.
Good lesson, today. Pretty impressive as to what you've accomplished on a day that hasn't been easy. Good attitude is what you have on all days--even this. Hope you get some of your stuff back.
This post was so timely. I've played golf for over 45 years, and I realized that what you're saying is spot on. As soon as you lumped Hogan, Moe, and Trevino in the same thought pattern, I had to watch it. After trying to master the golf swing for myself, I've come to realize that I play good golf with the ball way back in my stance, with my hands very forward of the ball. It's as though all the contemporary "views/theories" are opposed to success. As a 20-year-old, I remember Trevino saying, "If you hit behind the ball, then put the ball BACK there". Boy, how right he was and IS. God bless you, sir.
Watched Trevino play Colonial in 71. He’s one of a kind. His own style and confidence.
Just tried your new tip...what a result!!! Thanks Jimmy!
Sir your approach to gold is what I needed, I'm learning and low and slow has improved the way I hit the ball its flying straight thaks so much my friend.
