They spawn desert more, but they are rare, but in snow, they are even rarer. you can check spawn points too from the internet

@Syntac: little tip: get the "Gene Scanner" if you have it. as if you hold "R" on it you get the option to scann for Dinos. you could select Yutyrannus in the list and it shows you exactly where the nearest Yutyrannus is based on your current location. it says "Max level" meaning that is the highest level of that creature it will search for but it doesn´t mean that it will always show you that level of a creature. it just goes for the nearest creature of that species. meaning if you have "max lvl 125" and you select Thylacoleo, but the closest Thylacoleo to you is lvl 50 then it will show you the way to that lvl 50. you can also brute force your way through that limit though, since if you kill all creatures of that species on the map but one that is a higher level than indicated by the scanner, then it WILL show you where that high level creature is. so you might need to kill all creatures of that type to get to high levels but it shows you without fail where the creatures are.
