Here in the US many public buildings are air tight and some modern homes are built with windows that can't be opened. The health problems from uncirculated air are acknowledged.
Not sure this is true. My sister grows herbs vegetables and fruit on her balcony outside and none of them were growing well. She put a snake plant on her balcony and she begin to notice her strawberry plant begin to thrive. Then she moved it to her tomato plant and the same thing happened. The snake plant made every plant it was near thrive. And her balcony is on a busy intersection with lots of traffic. So NASA was on to something.
It doesn't matter how they make me buy more plants, as long as they make me buy more plants.
All I’m hearing is that I now need to get 10,000 new plants for my house……… where’s the downside??
Or they want us to buy manufactured air purifiers that cost an arm and a leg. Studies are paid for too.
Me my wife and mother were blown away by the difference in how our sleep improved by adding plants to our bedrooms. My wife started talking in her sleep saying "I can breathe I can breath!"
I bought snake plants 2yrs ago just for the sake of having plants and decor, however, when we are having the wet/rainy winter down under for weeks, my room got odd odor and I can't properly breath as all balcony doors and windors been closed, when I moved my snake plants from living room to bedroom since I did rearranging for few days I noticed the fresh air and off odor disappeared and been sleeping well with clean air. Then I realized how effective air purifying plants. I got some for bathroom and house of peace lilies, Chinese evergreen, etc to reduce dampness and clean up air and they worked. Maybe because u have airy place so u haven't yet realized how effective they are., same here not until we got this weather
It's not complicated. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Some also absorb humidity through their leaves. This is air purification enough, to be fair.
I have a question I can't figure out if this is a myth or not: can some plants really decrease the humidity in a room ? And if so, how many plants would be needed ?
A 1992 memo on the NASA study by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency concluded, "to achieve the same pollutant removal rate reached in the NASA chamber study" would require having "680 plants in a typical house."
I live in a polluted area near a major highway so the air outside isn’t very fresh. I think indoor plants make a huge difference when you don’t want to open the windows. Modern buildings are sealed pretty tight. Sure if so lived in the Amazon rainforest I would just crank open all the windows and have perfect air
I keep bromeliads in the bedroom not to purify the air for me, but to provide them with a heavier concentration of carbon dioxide the effects of which on growth are clearly visible. They draw this gas in and form maleic acid in cells then at daybreak they use the energy from the sun to convert this maleic acid to carbohydrates and sugars to create new growth. It is in effect a raw material for food. Carbon dioxide indoors may be five times the density of that outdoors.
I would say they can certainly freshen up the air in a room. A little more oxygen and a little less co2 is good.
Its crazy he telling us this with 50 plants behind him lol😂
Apartment buildings...in a polluted city...I'm keeping the plants. I need more oxygen.
This video only made me feel like im wasting my time on buying plants , but i dont care what this guy said i still love PLANTS so much and im sure they still do alot more in a room then no plants at all
Might be in part that I dont leave my room much and the heat and air gets trapped but I noticed when I had alot of plants in my room my breathing was better
My room gets very Damp and have breathing issues. I’ve added in plants to my room as I heard can help, and guess what it helped!! I guess it’s different for you sir. Take care
