Man, these videos have really helped me get comfortable with my A1. Being new to this hobby, it took me years to get one. I really appreciate the time you took for these videos, im sure many others feel the same way.
ASA is the way I go for any prints that will live outdoors. Great stuff that holds up well.
I have a spool of off brand PLA filament that the diameter ranges from 1.63mm to 1.8mm. I spent hours trying to find a printer problem with under-extrusion and a plugged hot end or extruder. Tried another filament and that worked great so then I measured the diameter of the bargain basement filament. That is the last time I bought the cheapest filament available.
Good tips for the first prints. I agree with not using cheap or no name filament, I had many problems with it and decided to go with Polymaker for my PLA. It works great on all of the printers and is consistent. Some fun types to test are the mulitcolor - where two or more colors are in the plastic and you get different colors depending on how the print is viewed.
One added suggestion is know which filaments you can and can not use with a standard nozzle. As you know, some filaments require a hardened nozzle. Shameless plug: Also, don't forget 3DLabPrint filament. It is one of the best types for printing RC planes. 😁
After having three spools tangled up, I learned how sacred the end of the filament is. Treat it with respect or be ready to nurse your tangled spool during a long print. Right now I have ran some anycubic and some elegoo. Both companies make good filament. But Bambu is the main one I buy from. I am excited to get my hands on some silk, color changing, and some sparkling filaments.
This would be a great video for beginners if it covered safety as well (e.g. VOCs from ABS and UFPs from PETG and the rest).
Great video as usual! Did you print that clear plastic for your A1 Mini, or did you buy that somewhere? Would really like to check that out for my own stuff!
For my PETG people out there, go checkout the new SunLu high speed matte PETG. I print exclusively in PETG and this new filament is awesome. It prints almost as great as PLA with all the PETG benefits. It REQUIRES drying first.. but it is awesome!
What is it like to install a refill onto a reusable spool? If from same brand, are they easily exchanged even if there is still filament on the spool you wish to switch to another color?
