10:30 a little backstory since im from germany: the MMA fighter is christian eckerlin currently fighting in the oktagon promotion and he is the "king of germany" so the best german fighter in his weight class. the powerlifter is leonidas arkona known for holding world records in powerlifting for example he did a 130 kg cheat curl. both of them are friends and wanted to see how long christian would take to take leonidas down. christian took him down eventually but it took him a while and he then said: he never felt anything like this strength that leonidas has but leonidas also said that he couldnt do anything because christian was just too good and technical. so he basically was stuck there pushed against the fence. both of them are very cool and respectful dudes. very likeable. hope that helps the non german audience
And that dudes out of breath just talking to us about being big.π
I've recently just went through this after joining a mma gym, i didn't go in there with an ego but in my head I've always thought i could fight, i found out i cant fight for shit
Definitely a fighter cause you can be in damn good shape if you train correctly to fight
The big guy on the bag was incredible
5'7, 145 lbs, nearly 54, trained for 18 years in kickboxing/jitsu but tons of injuries, had to fight two lunatics in San Francisco in the last two years, leg kicks and jabs worked each time (well, I did break my toe), so that was good. But all the training came with a ton of injuries to my neck and back so that I can't lift heavy now, whereas before I was pretty strong (and younger). Can't squat now because of the pressure it puts on my cervical spine, for instance. Given my (lack of) height, being 170-190 of muscle just doesn't look good on me. But I have no disrespect for bodybuilders. They are super disciplined. If I could share the number of fighters who were eating like crap weeks before a UFC fight, yeah, it would be disappointing. Anyway, lifting is good for you and helps in all ways. MMA is good in other ways. Lots of friendships, community, competition, self-discipline, et cetera. On the other hand, it's full of injuries, you can't do it forever at any high level of intensity, you rarely will use it, and so on. People should just do what they enjoy and not be thinking of "what if I have to fight on the streets of San Francisco." Best bet: don't move there, LOL.
I understand the body builder vs mma fighter debate, I have been doing bjj for 9 years BUT I'm 6'4 and 242 pounds, so I'm a big guy with the skills, when Connor says why wouldn't u wanna be bigger, I agree, looking big (believe it or not) get you outa alot of things, regardless if you can fight or not, I just happen to be big and a fighter
2:39 chill bro u ainβt gotta call me out πβ οΈ
Thumbs up for the minute 2:45 I was doing exactly the same as you describedπππ
Lots of fighters "look good" though. And plenty if not most of woman prefer a smaller shredded body, over huge builds. I'd rather look good in a smaller size and know how to fight.
2:40 how did you know i was pushing one out ππ.come on Shean these new protein shakes are running a number on me π
I'm 6"2 220lbs ex military and done boxing majority of 10 years, I hate fighting and will always try to resort with my words and I never swing first, I'm a father and a husband, I have too much to lose over a clash of egos or anything like that, I no what I'm capable of but I'll choose to walk away 90% of the time, only time I'll fight is for my family now days, I'm too pretty for prison π€£π
People think being jacked is healthy but no its not. What important is Staying fit and healthy. People think being Fit means having 10% body fat.

LOVE this channel! Love you Shaun!
2:45 was literally in the processπ
Can't believe I got called out like that literally 5 seconds after sitting on the toilet
I was a body builder for years, on the juice and went from 11 stone when I was boxing to around 15.5 stone. When I got big I just attracted more problems from people wanting to challenge me. Now I just stay fit, lift weights to stay strong and try to stay humble
