In the north of Spain it is common to have dryers, however even if you have a dryer, you do not dry quality clothes in the washing machine. In the north of Spain it is also normal for clotheslines to have a folding glass or plastic cover.
Old Dutch guy here. I've had a dryer for at least the last 30 years. And so does pretty much everybody else in my circle.

That is one thing many South Africans visiting Europe talked about. No ice. We buy ice in 2kg bags in SA at nearly any store yet in Europe its next to impossible to buy ice. If you are lucky they offer you a cube.
