NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICEEEEEE!!! Andy, try sticking to the bootom side RGB Led stripe diagonally (like this - ////////). And different color will highlight different layers.

use the 4017 ic for the lights. it's really easy to use... you only need a 555 timer, some resistors and it's done ;)
