Hey Adam, I really like what you do but I think you could elevate the image quality of your videos by extending your knowledge on cameras. First of all setting white balance in camera is not color grading or balancing. Try this: - set a custom white balance whenever you can using a grey card especially underwater!! (I'm sure you can buy a waterproof grey card) this will fix the green tint in your footage. Above water you can get away by using the presets in your camera: Sunny, Cloudy etc... - record in Cine 2 picture profile (pp5 in your camera maybe) it's a flat picture profile that will give you a bit more dynamic range and flexibility in post - Set in camera sharpening to -7 (sharpen in post if needed) - Expose manually whenever you can. You overexpose a lot, you often blow out the whole sky sometimes even when you could achieve proper exposure on the face and save those highlights at the same time, I'm not sure if it's because you use auto exposure or it's just your taste but don't do that :) I can imagine how hard it is to live life, freedive and vlog at the same time but you are a machine :D so please don't take this negatively
Wow the gopro hero 8 is almost the best choice! It does a hell of a job! I have a hero 3 plus and it also does a great job... but the 8 is awesome!
great stuff Adam - remarkable both how much better bigger sensors are, and what the gopro can do with that smaller sensor!
Hello Adam, GoPro fan here π I just ordered the Aqualung Sphera mask, can't wait to try it. Greetings from Romania π
This video really captured the difference so well! ππ
Ok, I subscribed for the dog. Markings are just like my dog - that gorgeous tawny brindle!
thank you :D this is an amazingly in depth comparison. really appreciated :)
Such a useful video!!! Thanks!
Coolllll and very informative. Thanks.
Cool comparison, I think with a custom white balance on the song at 20m it would blow any action camera out of the water, excuse the pun! That $10K rig is nice but if you leave it on auto like the GoPro it doesnβt make much difference. Horses for courses like you say.
Great video thank you Adam !!!
This was like an impromptu color grading tutorial for me. Thank you.
2:11 burst out laughing at this part hahaha never change adam :D
To really get good footage especially if you are willing to shelle out 10k you need a lens that was designed to take underwater footage such as the nikonos lenses. Especially the 15mm is excellent!
thanks for the review π I'll stay with my GoPro π
that what i was looking for... Thanks Adam
Well def a different video to what I am used to seeing. Yup the go pro hero 8 is a great camera (they have come along way, the stabilisation is awesome as well) As a A7iii Owner I will mention the camera really shines with the user. Yup the footage was a bit shaky and the Sonys don't have the best IBIS but if you are just shooting without a particular profile then u will get average results.Slog and Cine4 are a preferred flat profile to maximise DR but you have to expose properly as well. Also Lenses make a huge difference. Another difference is a full frame sensor combined with a fast lens whilst pushing iso's to 10k or more ( you can basically see in the dark)I could imagine it would come in handy on the bottom of the ocean
Awesome video! Loved the mini Lightroom tutorial too. When I watched it vid was at 270 views, 27 likes and 27 minutes ago hahaha
Awesome! I just made a dive video here π and my dad saw you here too! π
