Wow... so now that Tom Friedman said it... it must be true. Amazing! Where has he been for the past couple of decades?
Many observers warned from the beginning of the Gaza war that Israel's real aim was to drive Palestinians out. Friedman used his column to consistently deny that and to support the Israeli line that it was just a war against Hamas and that any civilian casualties were the fault of Hamas for using the population as human shields. So it is pretty rich for him now to come out and admit that ethnic cleansing and annexation was the real goal. Where was he when his voice might have prevented so much death and destruction?
They are starving children and the US is letting it happen.
Tom Friedman, the famous hardcore undercover Israeli writer in US.
Tom has to SEE now because the gig is up, and he has to save his reputation. Israel has never negotiated. Tommy Bibi has been in power since the nineties.
It only took Tom 45 yrs to catch on.
He sees that the writing is the wall so he wants to be able to say that he was against the genocide all along. HYPOCRISY at its ugliest
the word "genocide" still does not appear in these conversations
Tom Freedman has waited far too long to take this stand. So did the NYT.
If you have read Tom's columns over the years, as I have, you'd notice one common thread throughout them and that is Arab hate and Jewish supremacy. Sometimes it's very overt (like when he compared arabs to animals just in last year's column) and other times it's between the lines. Now claiming that Netanyahu's ministers are the ones who're too right wing is quite rich coming from Tom. It's people like him at NYT and other prominent news outlets who've provided cover for Israeli atrocities for many many years. Always take his moral grandstanding with a grain of salt.
@10:00 The occupation's history did not begin when Hamas began resisting. 😅 Shame on you, Tom😂
Just remember: This guy did everything possible to attack Iraq - and result in crimes against humanity - plus it cost billions and billions of dollars. This is how "englightened" Thomas Fiendman is.
Expected disappointed interview with this Friedman guy who has been all about killing Muslims for the sake of Israeli supremacy. The interviewer avoided the real issue of the occupation, the horrific conditions of the sadistic blockade, apartheid conditions, starvation, and the detention & torture of Palestinians. Any normal human being would and should resist that. We need Palestinian opinion.
Only 3% Israeli are in favor of any negotiations with Gazan Palestinian. The vast majority would like Palestinian out of Gaza.
@2:00 The first Nakba (violent and deadly expulsion of Arabs/Palestinians) occurred in 1948, so this has ALWAYS been what Israel is.
For decades Israel has effectively colonized the West Bank, eliminating any hope of Palestinian statehood. To say that it was ever serious about making peace is wholly disingenuous.
“One day , suddenly everyone will always have been against this”
Kinda too little too late - lots of folks gonna try and get on the right side of history now that independent journalists have exposed Israel and the GENOCIDE (not just Netenyahu and his government).
I read his book back in the day, "From Beirut to Jerusalem." My thoughts were that this man is not an honest broker, and his bias did come through. Now everyone has develped a conscious and seeing which way the wind is blowing. The most praise he ever gave to an Arab was his taxi driver, who zipped him around the country. Now, all of a sudden, it's his interview with King Abdullah. Oh, please... Mr. Friedman, you really never gave a damn about the Palestinians.
