My favorite such story, as told by an Air Force Colonel, was that one day, General Curtis LeMay, in charge of the Strategic Air Command, started to walk up to a just-fueled and ready B47 Bomber. As he walked up to the plane, famous lit cigar in his mouth, the base Chief Master Sergeant, standing by for the inspection, plucked the cigar from LeMay’s mouth and ground it out against his palm, before handing it back to him, saying “Sir, you can’t smoke around a freshly fueled airplane, ✈️ it might explode.” LeMay is reported to have said “It wouldn’t dare,” but proceeded with the inspection with a fresh cigar his mouth, unlit! 😂😂😂😂😂

Iwas in the Army stationed in West Germy when I shut down a nuclear warhead storage sit as a E4 because while running operations our commander kept trying to step in our red area. Gave him 3 orders to stay back. On the 4th order I shut the operations down, had him escorted out of the gates along with all workers except for our guards. Called the officer in charged, a second Lt. And told him what I did. The second Lt. Came out, asked ME what happen and then smiled saying that it all was a test and that me and my guys did right. He then said Qe could resume what we were doing and the Major shook my hand and the other 4 guards and said that we did the right thing. Made the Lt. And out day happy😊

The figure you keep referring to as admiral IS a two star MARINE CORPS General or a Lieutenant General in the MARINE CORPS not a navy admiral

Promoted to "first class officer"....? No such thing in the US Navy. There is a First Class Petty Officer rank, E6, an enlisted rank.
