"If you were not injured in some way, you did it wrong" that line is heavy
Don't worry Vets, none of your injuries will be "Service Connected" according to the VA.
Thanks for all the Men and Women who knew all this before they signed and still go out and protect us!
Blessings on our brave people in uniform who protect us.🙏& Thank you for your service.
Educational. Dad was drafted around the Korean War time. He was so badly injured during a work assignment that by the time his bones completely healed, the US Army discharged him with honor and full legal veteran status. Humble and modest, he never called himself a soldier and never mentioned it outside the family. His veteran's flag is behind his urn. In life, completely recovered, he went on to be one of the best top linemen CPL ever had.
Joined US NAVY RESERVE IN Jan,1968. RESERVE BOOT CAMP 13 ... days. Weapons training .22 caliber M-16 look-a-like. 11 rounds. Water swim length of pool, once. My test scores got me a ticket to FT"A" school, 5 months at Great Lakes. Passed and tested for FTG3, passed. Went active duty last week of July 1969. Assigned to USS ASKARI ARL-30, Mekong River, 50 miles south of Cambodia. Ended up as leading petty officer in gunnery dept. Missed having AGENT ORANGE, we were too far Noth VC too rare. Did 1 year, 1 month, 1 day, got early out. I was very lucky. I know.
During Vietnam, it was even higher than that. Your instructors informed you that pain was weakness leaving your bodies. If you survive our training, you’ll survive your 12 to 13 month tour in Vietnam and then they would tell you you’ll be dead before your 30 so what’s the difference? They lied I’m 72 and I’m still kickingbut they were right if you survive the training you’ll survive the war it will make your body remember what you’re doing even before you do
SERE school definitely jams your frequencies up man! Dunno about anyone else but when I went thru way back when, our constant motivator was always hearing dogs barking off in the distance. We never knew if they had real dogs or just recordings of dogs on a PA system. But that definitely put pep in your step😉
Broke my neck C6-7 on the 40-ft rope drop at Fort Bragg NC, during ROTC Recondo training... and lived to tell about it without paralysis. Go Army!

I have great respect for these men & women who serves the country.
SERE survivor. I didn't get many courses in the Marines, but that one was enough.
A Warrior is a seasoned soldier and few are old. Especially facing the enemy with preexisting injuries. 🇺🇸💀
Shawn and Mel….God has given y’all a platform to be a testament to others!!! I could see it the one night when people started requesting gospel songs during a live last week. Thank You!!! for listening to his voice and responding with a testimony. Someone watching needed this!!! God is good…in Jesus name Amen🙏
"If you didnt get hurt, you did something wrong." Or listened to Drill Sergeant
Teamwork makes the dream works. 2nd place could of kept going, but was humble. Must respect for working it out with each other. Keep it going.. should should an updated video every month.
My husband was in the Marines during the Viet Nam years. He had never learned to swim, they tried at least 3x. He just couldn't swim. His instructor finally passed him anyway. Final instruction from DI was, if your on board a ship and its going down, when you get to the bottom just run like hell.
Been there, read the book, seen the film & bought the T shirt. I broke both my scafoid bones in my wrists & still compleated the course that day, it's just what we did back then 1972, 6 years into my 12 years service & no one expected any less.
And the VA will absolutely deny 90% of your service related injuries.
