@BarbusCraft

The fact they didn't recognise Susan just hurt my soul.

@RaphGirl

The song contest is based on Eurovision, which has been around since 1956. In fact, the night this ep aired Eurovision announced their 2025 winner.

@j8jn381

Susan was mentioned several times before, and you guys saw her face in the last finale episode

@MeIsAustinWazTaken

The woman in the visions is Susan, and she’s played by her original actress, the rani is another classic who timelord who was banished for her horrible experiments on creatures

@matthewterlaga3022

The Rani is a renegade time lady, she’s the second most wanted criminal galifreyan, second only to the Master. But while his main goal was to rule, hers was the pursuit of “science” which led her to perform truly heinous experiments. She’s basically the Mengele of the Time Lords.

@TheDoctorWhoDon

The political parallels were not as subtle as you may think - The Eurovison Song Contest, is what The Interstellar Song Contest is based off, has for many years had a very pro-Israel agenda (despite Israel not being in Europe), and has banned Russia for war crimes, but not Israel for committing a genocide. The politics of this episode seem slightly muddled - probably due to it being written 2-3 years ago now and that being before October 7th 2023.
Your description of the events of the War in Gaza were also slightly off - it is not the people of Gaza that bombed parts of Israel - it was Hamas, a Terrorist group. A group that Israel has used as an excuse to consistently bomb and ethnically cleanse Palestine for many, many years (but particularly in the last 2), indiscriminately killing all people there including children - and actively stopping aid form entering.

Boycott Eurovision. Free Palestine.

@jasonmarbach

I think that moment of the venting of the crowd out into space is maybe the darkest moment we’ve ever seen in Nu Who. Yeah they walked it back pretty quick and made sure we knew everyone would be okay, but that moment of them venting into space, shot from a distance in silence, is a haunting image. Loved this episode, and the reveals

@lorestorm5092

Carole Ann Ford played the first doctor's granddaughter Susan Foreman (William Hartnell's granddaughter) in the first series of Doctor Who and we Whovians who have been fans since this era, have waited soooooooo long to see her again! He promised to come back to her when he first left her on Earth to marry a human.

@TheGirlInGeekGlasses

Oof. This one was painful, guys.
5:03 How do none of you know about Eurovision?! It's been going on every year since the 1950s!
5:24 Aaron, I beg of you to stop asserting American references on a British show.
28:26 I can forgive the first two points. But Aaron, not knowing anything about what's going on in Gaza (and has been going on for quite some time now) is something to be seriously ashamed of.

@Ragnarok345

How cool to bring back the Delta Wave from Eccleston’s finale.

@David-cg1lh

The concert being political is a euro vision thing not a "their was a rave happening the day of the attack" thinh

@beesly01

He mentioned having a granddaughter also in the Maestro episode looking out over London.

@thelastofthetimelords27

Yes Carole Anne Ford reprised the role of Susan Foreman for this episode. She was last seen in a charity special in the 90s. But in the Actual show we haven't seen her since the 20 anniversary special the Five Doctors. The Rani was in two stories for the classic run. The mark of the Rani and time and the Rani. She was also seen last in the same charity special in the 90s as Susan.

@blainemellor9662

I can forgive them for not having a reaction to The Rani reveal because she's a niche Classic Who villain but Susan has been brought up last season, she's been mentioned in Capaldi's run, Smith's run and Tennant's and they've seen the Five Doctors and An Adventure in Space and Time so their lack of reaction for Susan is pretty disappointing

@FannieSteele

Before the next reaction, everyone, review Susan and The Rani. Really.

@marshsundeen

The older lady was Susan, The Doctor's granddaughter and first companion of the first Doctor. The Rani is, a classic Who villain.

@jakeoliver9167

How did they manage to make a reaction to one of the most action packed, reveal filled, fun, haunting, emotional episodes.... so deflating. How can you forget the doctors grandaughter? You go into it excited thinking "what are they gonna say about susan cant wait" and then when she appears on screen and literally says "grandfather".... they say "whos that?". You even watched a reaction with her in it throughout. She was referenced throughout last season.

@FlynnTheRedhead

It’s a play on Eurovision, the finale of which aired the same day as this episode

@EvripidouM

5:10 eurovision, my dudes :)
