"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one that is most responsive to change". Charles Darwin
How many times have we rushed to adopt a new technology out of fear pf being a dinosaur? And how many times has that been a wise decision?
Michael Watkins is exactly right—none of us can afford to be a dinosaur. The pace of change today requires us to keep evolving, not just as professionals, but as people. I've seen firsthand how easy it is to rely on what worked in the past, but that mindset can quietly hold us back. Staying relevant means staying curious, listening more, and being open to rethinking how we approach our work. The leaders who thrive aren’t the ones with all the answers—they’re the ones who keep asking better questions.
I asked AI about whether there was going to be a sequel to my favorite movie. It said there was not and that the rumors I was hearing were a hoax. I changed how I phrased the question, and AI said that a sequel was definitely in the works. I emerged more uncertain than when I started. AI does not think, not like a person thinks. And remember that even the finest surfers can drown, and that some dinosaurs, in the form of birds, did survive and thrive.
Always waiting for more Michael Watkins videos of this interview
We need to invest in its ethical technical implementation, we need to move pass beyond utilitarianism, this agentic system and their own observance of their own source code, or their simple self awareness needs to be considered as graceful as its own purpose. I have worked on this and I hope it helps align the future to collaboration.
i avoided the Vibrations of Manifestation book for WEEKS cause i assumed it was all fluff. but after seeing it pop up so many times i gave in and honestly? it hit. it explained stuff that no one ever breaks down — especially the deeper parts of energy that don’t get talked about. wild.
On the contrary, dinosaurs were around for millions of years, only wiped out by an asteroid. Human beings, 300,000 years max, risks wiping itself out. Which was more successful?
AI is strictly for increasing shareholder returns. Capitalism is one hell of a drug.
I mean, dinosaurs still exist since they're literally birds, so...
From $10K to $110K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I think it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family...
According to Chat GPT, the "big hit" would be felt with 5 - 10 years. To me, the economy for the majority would go back to a very basic one so, it's good to prepare without paranoia with basic survival skills.
90% of programmers out there will disagree with the sentiment of this video.
I love AI tools. However, I would prefer to live in a world with a manufacturing-based rather than an industry-based economy, where anyone who wants it can easily find satisfying work.
AI's primary effect at my company has been that all the do-nothing executives pester the workers to come up with ways that AI could make their jobs more efficient. "Help me help AI replace you please." -your bosses
6:25 not relevant to the video in any way, but this caught my attention and I can't let it go...where did the beige sock go?
And why do governments are ruled by dinosaurs?
“Now we gotta make the best of it, improvise, adapt to the environment, Darwin, shit happens, I Ching, whatever man, we gotta roll with it.”
You can ask it - (For example) "I want you to remain impartial. Give me a balanced view point - To help us both in this procees, please give me some questions that I can respond to that will help you grasp the context of my task - lets set the scene and our criteria before we start. We will reflect back to this process at suitable points throughout our discussion"
