On the console editions of Minecraft, adventure mode just makes it so you have to use a shovel to break dirt, pickaxe to break stone, axe to break wood, etc. Oddly enough, there is no way to break torches directly

You actually can’t, because you need a flint and steal to go to the nether, but in adventure mode you can’t use it. Same goes for the eyes of ender for the end portal.

On adventure mode you can beat Minecraft with 0.0000000001 % chance of full filed eyes, or glitch on end portal because you can't place eyes in portal frames on this gamemode.

The hardest non adventure mode, is playing on peaceful. Maybe not beating it, but thriving, getting automation and farms etc will be next to impossible

There is 1 version of adventure mode where you can place and break blocks. Version 1.4.2. (The break block part is only available if you have the right tools)
