So it's a scroll for children? It's literally a scroll in a box.
This is just how you read books on a tablet now At least if you have the pages formatted like I do You just scroll down to read Neat to see it technically being a thing before tablets and digital books
Everett Whitmyre was my grandfather.
We made those in grade school back in the 90s. It's simply impractical to carry scrolls around, and if something breaks then it's a scroll, not a page. Books are more successful due to their storage and shape capabilities, compared to mechanisms that you can't flip through and double check multiple things at once. And in case anyone asks, my "scroll box" was on the War of 1812, when most of my classmates did Lewis and Clark. I had a dramatic reveal of cannon smoke covering wounded soldiers as we scrolled up, then flames emerging from the blackness, followed by the burning White House and people running across the green. Got an A+ for being cinematic and artistic lol.
I had the golden edition of this book but lend it to a friend. Never got it back even though he lives next door. I should know, never got back my car either.
That looks cool although the gimick probably wasn't worth the extra effort they took to make for most publisher's.
Still not that much but 1000$ in 1941 is like 20 000$ now with inflation
That 1K is worth about 18K in today's dollars. Still Disney made a lot more.
