It’s not fixing it, it’s spitting in the face of everyone who bought a 5080 knowing they were gonna release a better product to fill the gap of the 4090 in the 5090. Edit* I obviously knew this would happen. I’m not blind to the past. Still doesn’t make it the right thing to do.

rule of thumb if the timing of something seems wrong it was probably something done just for the shareholder numbers. like launching at a certain date or not delaying too much. kinda dumb but the shareholder number are top priority at publicly traded companies.

Im building a new PC, everything is easy except the GPU. Its so unnecessarily annoying that I might not bother. I'm ordering a 9950x3D but I have no clue what GPU to pair it with. I need more than 16GB VRAM but a 5090 is a bit expensive and I don't want to support Nvidia after this launch. I was running a 6700xt which is good, but slow in 2025. What are we more likely to see first? A good AMD 24GB or a 5080 Super?

If Nvidia doesn't fix this trace issue, this card is also going to be useless. What's the point of more VRAM if the card dies from heat death after 2 years? You might as well buy the cheaper card then.

With the card prices being so high, I hear "video card" and my mind kind of wanders off and I think about puppies and kittens and stuff... I want an upgrade, but let's face it, it's crazy to buy a new NVIDIA card right now...

AMD's naming scheme is getting confusing each day why is it called the 9070 instead of the 9700 similar to their previous entries like the RX 7000 and 6000 series? Won't naming it the 9070 makes consumer think it's less powerful than if it's named the 9700

I don’t mind getting the regular 5080. I got mine at launch at msrp. So I’m good for a few years. Went from 3060 to 5080.
