The way I deal with thieves is I buy my tools from Harbor Freight. The thieves break in, look at my tools, and then leave better quality tools rather than steal them because they feel sorry for me.
Drilling holes, obviously is the most boring topic in woodworking. It really leaves you feeling hollow inside.
And here I was waiting for the inevitable hole boring jig joke. So this is the poor man's split top Roubo with the shifting middle board. Actually kind of cool.
A whole youtube woodworker category just erupted in flames after that jig comment lmao
“Table saw jigs” — I cackled!
I’m pretty convinced by YouTube that the amount of effort that goes into making jigs for table saws to crosscut is greater than using a hand saw.
add another stop to The List of Cheap Stops™
My first thought is that you remove the board and have a handy place to put a clamp.
I could talk about tablesaw jigs for hours! Having that gap in your bench is really useful to get things to lay flat that stick out in some way
And here i thought that the most boring part of woodworking is auger bits
I left all the boards on my lower shelf, which sits right over the floor, unsecured. It works as storage and if saw dust gets under the table, it’s easy to remove the boards and vacuum
didnt expect that ending xD
I did this without anyone telling me. Gotta love it.
I thought you were going to bring up some sort of bore tool lmao
It's quite rare at this point in my development to run into a new way of doing things that has this much impact on me. This tip totally changes the design of my next bench because I'm quite eager to try it. Seems much easier to implement than the Mike Siemsen fence as well.
Table saw jigs is a fascinating subject. Jigs in general is a bottomless pit of intrigue worthy of exploration
Thanks, master Rex for sharing that!
Table saws are just terrifying. If I can't get one with a sliding table (which atm is too space consuming and a bit on the pricy side) I will just make do without. Bandsaw on the other hand is essential for lazy handtool woodworkers.
It seems there are so many ways to have a stop for sawing boards.
