@LockedInLazy

They've already shown how fiscally irresponsible they are. No need to fuel it

@TheTyphoon365

Im not paying for mods. Especially if 100% of the profit isn't going to the dev. That would be a bare minimum

@WiffySparta

Why does the snail games CEO look like an actual snail😂

@Avisrex1995

"This has unrestricted passion and beauty... well time to ruin that, you get a price tag, you get a deadline! You get restricted!"

@Demonamic777

50% is a greedy cut for Snail Games, if Premium mods must be sold, the creators should at least earn 70% or more of the revenue.

@SillyStickman2-wq1ff

Everything eventually falls to greed.

@Retik7

I genuinely can't think of a single mod that I would pay for. Anything my wife and I use is already out and free or will be out soon. 50% is far too much of a cut for them to be taking out of it as well.

@AmalgamaniacGaming

Paid/Premium mods WILL fail for ASA. Literally NO ONE wants to pay for mods and ANY modder that starts putting out premium mods will ultimately put a blemish on whatever reputation they currently have. Then on top of THAT? Yea, no one wants to give Snail Games any more money than they have to

@SolarBrain4128

Here's a story about one of my favorite mods, Ark Additional Creatures 2. It adds tons of new creatures to the mix. My personal favorites were the Arizonasaurus, which was like a dimetrodon you could ride but didn't provide as much temperature regulation, and the amphibious brontoscorpio, which was a giant scorpion that you had to find a way to bring up to the surface as it could only be found at the bottom of the ocean but couldn't swim. One day I log onto my personal server to find a fraction of my pets missing. The mod's creator had removed a lot of animals they deemed unpolished to make space for different adjustments. My Arizonasaurs and Brontoscopio were gone. While this bummed me out, it was still a free expansion pass, and I had plenty of other animals to play with. The modder is entitled to do what they wish. However, if I had paid any amount of money on that mod only to have promised features removed with no promise of them ever returning, I would be pissed. That's the future I'm afraid of. Paying for DLC that could be ripped away with nothing to show for it.

@lugga306

If we look at Bethesda paid mods never end well

@hat6885

Snail is going to fuck everything over just like they always do

@candiedragon

I liked the idea that modders can get paid BUUUUT they're taking a 50% cut. A 30% cut would be on the highest end of acceptable imo. Not to mention it's snail games who has proven and continues to prove how incompetent they are, especially with finances, and how little they care for the community.

@gabrielthompson3159

There is no reason to pay for mods even slightly modders make mods for fun and if you want to support them alot have a patreon I honestly blame Bethesda for this

@kylethecaregiver4050

I will always remember the six years of memories i have from early release Ark survival evolved. Nothing will ever beat those days, Ark in its prime.

@ultimate9056

Paid mods have been attempted multiple times and every time was a complete and utter disaster. The moment capitlism turns somethinf into a business is when all soul and human passion gets sucked right out of it

@LEONDAS-

I think paid mods are a bit of a double sword in one hand if the quality of the mod if superb in comparison to others it will make it stand out between the crowd and can really help the modder make a living .
On the other hand, taking 50% from the mod seems a bit to much and it dosent really protect the mod from being copied and redistributed as free

@minomerle9906

I see this with great concern! I think, when we have Premium Mods now as an option next to free mods, it is only a matter of time until free mods become either cut completely or become completely irrelevant compared to paid mods, just as has happened with so many things that once startet as compasion project!

@The1Helleri

Looks like there needs to be a modders union.

@OwOKun

Paid mods would suck, I think it's only a little better than the idea of paid by hour gameplay.

@TyLovePie

The majority of the modding community is not going to give 50% revenue. We will continue doing things the way we have been until they change this. It is laughable.
