“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy I was able to get a sense of his soul." ~ George W. Bush about Vladamir Putin Apparently Bill Maher has the same ability to read people's souls.
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, Mother Night
I don't know how you can say Trump is a nice guy, and specifically mention him 'disappearing people' right afterwards.
If Maher had a milligram of introspection, he'd realize that his humiliation was matched only by his hypocrisy. It boggles the mind that he could be so lacking in self-awareness, or that he could so grossly overestimate his own importance. What a tool.
Not the way to fight fascism, Bill.
I gave up on Bill Maher so long ago that I’m not the least bit surprised by this.
THAT IS THE GUY YOU HAD DINNER WITH, Bill. People can be both charming AND a bastard. At your age, you should know that!!
"He seemed chill, and was nice to me." Didn't Chamberlain say the same thing about Hitler?
Who knew Bill would turn into Dennis Miller... Oh, everyone?
Of course he was nice to you Bill, he wanted something from you. And he got it.
Maher has gone from “Trump is an existential threat” to “Can I tell you all about my new best friend?”
"I had dinner with Mr Hitler and I found out that he's a decent, trustworthy man." - Neville Chamberlain, 30 September 1938, probably.
Look, Bill has just finally matured into his full old man form. We can just move on from him.
Maher's mocking and trivializing Senator Booker's heroic speech on the Senate floor was the last straw for me. I'm done with Maher, who will never be a fraction of the man that Senator Booker or President Zelenskyy are.
"But I smoke weed, okaaaayyyy????" - Bill Maher's tombstone
This was the most embarrassing and cringeworthy reaction Bill Maher has ever had to any political issue. And that's saying something.
Bill Maher has actually been this easy to manipulate for some time. In one of his stand-up routines from the mid 90s, he talked about how Don King was able to change Bill's opinion of him through a ten second interaction where Don complimented him. He went from "Don King is the scum of the earth" to "Don King is a great guy" because Don was nice to him and complimented his work. Different Don, same result.
This is the most accurate take ever. Bill’s fatal flaw is in how much he believes how smart he thinks he is. It really is sad.
If Bill was back in Germany in 1939 he would have gone to visit Hitler, “He was a nice guy, very gracious to me”
