Went to buy a GR Corolla, stealership wanted $5k markup, told the salesman that was Golf R money. Stealership didn't budge, so now I have a Golf R.

I had a golf R on the interstate, straight line, and I was cruising at 160 mph on my ZX14r, and the R was happily 150mph along with me. The car looked pretty solid, wasn’t floating. I was impressed it was going that speed without floating. Figured I’d share this.

they kept talking about the power difference and i was like sure Golf R's usually run hot; when they showed the dyno results i was shocked. i think it would be fair to say that a 100whp difference solidifies these cars being in different classes despite being the same price. i love what the GRC represents but what it offers at 50grand is basically unacceptable. unfortunately that's just the way of things in the car market these days.

My wife has an MK8 Golf R DSG and I have an M340. Her car is almost if not right on top of the acceleration of my 340. With the DSG, the Golf R is bonkers quick for what it is.

Not sure what’s worse, the fact that a golf and corolla can cost up to $50k, or that these are technically competitively priced considering the other (new) performance options available at that price point. Probably the latter.

I bought a 2016 Golf R 6MT last November. I love my Golf R. Previous cars: '15 Fiesta ST, '17 WRX STI, '15 WRX, '11 Civic SI All were solid cars, but the Golf R brings a balance or everyday driving and fun factor that other cars just didn't deliver. #seeyouinthestreets

It’s crazy how much bigger the grc is compared to the golf. Visually, the grc looks smaller by design…you don’t notice the size difference until you see them next to each other.
