@blancadesigns

I have a past in Graphic Design and for the past year I've been learning to code (just finished my coding bootcamp) - so I am happily claiming 'Coding Unicorn' 🦄 . Also, I loved how succinct and informative this video is. Thanks!

@ElianeForsang

omg I was on the verge of a mental breakdown until I found this video!! Thank you for clearing my confusion Jess!

@liberalpresbyterian

I’m trying to become both a designer and developer.

@Monique_Johnson

Thank you so much for explaining the difference between a web developer and a web designer!!

@akintoyeakinleye3937

Thank you so much for this video. As someone with experience in Graphic Design, I have always heard web design and web development, and seen it in job ads but never really bothered to look it up. Now that I know for sure what both of them are, and with the information you shared in this video, I think I would pour my strength into learning the developer side of the whole process.

@KristjanSaar-y1t

Finally someone made the difference clear — super helpful

@leviwanyoike

Great insights, and glad I landed on your channel.

I actually do both design and dev but with ZERO code, and I’m currently creating a curriculum for a web design course. My focus is on 3 areas: Strategy 50%, Design 30% and No-code development 20%. This ratio is also how the income from web design projects is shared.

So, while it’s good for designers/creatives to learn code, my 2 decades experience in design has taught me that Strategy is the one thing that designers and developers should really strive to understand. It is the bridge between the business world and the creator world, and your ultimate path to much higher income - be it as an employee or freelancer.

To kick off, start reading and consuming content on Creative Strategy. There’s a lot of great content by Chris Do on his channel “The Futur”.

@RaeAnnePond

I'm in the position of choosing which career to focus on. This video was very helpful in that it described in a way I could understand the two and their differences. Thank you very much.

@badkawaiikitty

Jess! Thank you for making this video! As someone who was looking into UX and was has been enjoying coding. I feel heard and validated in my feelings ma'am!

@renee5506

Subscribed I want to go back to school and been debating like “do I want to design draw paint or code” for me personally I always was a writer as a teenager always coming up with ideas and short stories and people felt moved and in awe at my art and writing combined so it’s time I get back to that part of me and pursue something I want and not be fearful.

Great video thank you for sharing this information.

@jamiesbooksandstuff

I’m in the process of teaching myself how to code to hopefully do something like this. I’m having fun learning HTML. After watching this, I think web developer is more my speed. Thank you for the video!

@PixelPawner

Went from no knowledge to now knowing the difference between design work and development work. I don’t think I’m prepared for all the tweaks necessary to become a “coding unicorn” 🦄 but it’s good to know unicorns exist and are useful! Did you know Scotland’s national animal is a unicorn? 4:08

@pixiedust1273

This helps a lot. I’ve taken classes and unlike many people I really enjoyed coding

@eyyy-sp9tf

This is a helpful video! I'm here coz my team leader just assigned me to web design, and its kinda a new environment for me because I'm from dev team.

@monikabaynes6961

Love this video. I dabbled in both during my myspace days and I taught myself. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this.

@lautarorobledo6361

Clear and concise way to explain, thanks a lot!

@didactic02

Super dope content! Getting into front end development through a bootcamp. This is definitely helpful

@Raz0rblade_R0mance

I'd love if you can do a tech lingo for dummies, wordpress for dummies, etc. All the videos I've found doesn't "dumb it down" enough. I/we need something that the average person on the street can understand. And I think you have the narrating capabilities for that!

@praneeth5127

THank you so much, i got my doubt cleared

@victoriaokunnuwa5812

Thanks so much for this video, like it's so brief and yet so informative. And the exciting part is that now I want to explore all these things you just said, figure which is of the two I'm good at or maybe both.
Just to mention, I have zero experience in both but your video is giving me the vibe that it doesn't matter, and I can make it. So I'm just gonna go ahead and try!
