@BRKsEDU

Regarding analytics, there’s nothing for you to worry about. YouTube is pushing Shorts, long-form videos get less exposure and thus get less clicks. And 2020 / 2021 are not good reference points since everyone was stuck at home because of the pandemic. Don’t worry. Your content is awesome, your channel is doing well and I do believe that your future years have a lot of potential… considering you want to keep going as you said in the video.

Hope you have an awesome 2024!

@alexlefevre3555

MVG, Mistakes WEREN'T Made. You hold such an authentic and professional role in the retro community; not because you just know so much but you because you have live it professionally. All you need to keep being is you.

@Nowbie

you’re very important to the gaming/modding community, thank you a lot! ❤

@DeemienX

As long as you're not doing Youtube fulltime, I think it's fine like it is. Being 100% dedicated to producing for Youtube can turn you off quite heavily without even realizing sometimes. Good that you are sticking around and giving us smiles on our faces with fantastic episodes of "Mistakes have been made..." or technical insight videos .. or even go on nerdy on topics (like those the most, as they show your true passion for something). have a fantastic holiday season and definately catching you in 2024. Bye for now ❤

@The8BitGuy

Thanks for the candid discussion. I have also had a pretty bad year for youtube views.

@theelveage

Yeah MVG - I found your channel in late 2022 and I absolutely love it. Informative, direct to the punch and insanely knowledgable about hardware!

@gamertechkid1490

Hey man your videos are always authentic and a pleasure to watch. I wish you all the success. I particularly enjoy your thoughts on older games etc.

@facundozalazar

Difficult to have a growing hobby or side project along with the daily pressure and deadlines from work. Keep it up, your content is top notch. Greetings from Argentina

@greeendevil

Appreciate the honest commentary. I love your channel and look forward to every video. Your positivity and optimism really motivate an older generation of gamers to embrace what we love as if we were kids again. THANK YOU 🙏

@12me91

He says bye then his video output skyrockets. Such a chad

@domm6812

Everyone who's into retro gaming knows The Modern Vintage Gamer. You have one of the very best channels and you make fantastic content. I'm glad you're not stepping away just yet. Love your stuff and always happy to see a new vids. It doesn't matter at all how frequently they come out, they're worth the wait.

@ShaunakDe

The layoffs cycle has been terrible for my mental health as well. I'm lucky enough to have remained unaffected, but can't help but feeling that I might be next. It's not fun worming super hard in the day, working overtime at night to make up for rhe lower manpower, and practicing for interviews as night! Thanks for speaking about this!

@bfitz111

Mate your one of the good ones! You're among the calm folks out there that isn't screaming at the camera about games! You, Nate and those two English lads on switch up. It's away easier to digest the content from a fella such as yourself. Much love bro! Happy Christmas!

@J0s34n70n10

I know that a couple of dollars are insignificant, but I wanted to make a point haha.

This channel is very good, I have been following for a while now, and I think it's sad to see that, since YouTube wants to push more short style content for the TikTok crowd, a lot of normal or longer form content creators have been hit. I for one haven't even got your videos recommended for a while now, or not as before, but I love to see someone who is passionate for the industry and even moreso who actually works in the industry, share their point of view and expertise on the matter of videogames and technology.

I understand perfectly the notion of considering if it's worth continuing on the long run or not, but I wanted to make sure that you know that there's a group of people who really like your content and your honest point of view on the subjects you talk about, so, as long as you are happy, keep on with it!

@marcpaix

I've been an avid fan of your channel since 2019, and I've not found any other channel that does quite what you do. The mix of game/console history, programming, console jailbreaking, DRM history from a hands-on knowledgeable perspective are all very appealing to me. I tend to "ration" YouTube watching for myself, but whenever I did let myself watch I'd always look specifically for your channel.

If it's not fun for you anymore, then don't stress yourself or force yourself to do it. Life's too short. But to whatever degree you still like it and it's just the analytics that are getting you down - those ebb and flow, and it's not something you can always control (corporate interests). I would bet you have countless other fans like myself whose life experiences you've made better by making cool and interesting videos. Thanks for doing what you do and hope you still decide to make stuff!

@FloridaManRacer

I hope you have a good off time as the year ends, MVG. The contributions you've made not just on you tube but as a developer over the last couple years have brought me a lot of personal joy. I just want you to have a sense of what you've given to the gamers out there. I can imagine that working in a high stress industry (at the best of times) makes it really hard to focus on the good things happening, but you've really helped create a lot of GOOD in this industry that can really tear people down behind the scenes. I'm proud to say I own games on the Carbon Engine and will continue to buy them as well. You, sir have helped my inner child smile and that's the biggest compliment I can think to give any game developer or content creator. Thank You!

@arebokert

All we care about is sharing your enthusiasm for the content you make videos about. Amount doesn't matter, make as few or as many as you want, as long as content creation is your passion we true fans will be here till the day it is no longer ❤

@NayBob101

I discovered your channel during the pandemic and I've been a fan ever since. I look forward to your videos the most on YouTube. I love your content, your insight to the industry, your technical know-how, the way you show average gamers like me how things work, and your passion for emulation and game preservation is inspiring. Thank you for all the videos this year. Analytics aside, doesn't matter what content you make. You have fans like me who share in your passion for gaming. We like seeing you have fun and sharing things that matter to you. That's what ultimately matters to us. I look forward to seeing what you create in the new year. Happy holidays. Cheers.

@Myuu

I'm a silent subscriber and big fan of your work for years. Keep being amazing and do what you love man. Happy Holidays!

@frankiepoindexter445

I'd love to see you start a podcast. They're relatively low production, and you could pump out a lot of content that way. 1-2 hours. You clearly have a lot of interesting and informative things to talk about. Please do it.
