I didn't use creative on a map I chose to survival only. I've made two homes at different places on there over time. The first was on a convenient very small island. Single story, but with a basement, larger yard, fenced off with multiple trees and torches to keep the bad away, it's now more of a get-away and I tunnedl under the water in 3 directions to get to land. But the current home started as a dig out in some stone mountain range within a minute run to a town. That one has converted into an open 3 story place. I slowly grew it out, created a big sloped roof on the top floor, the lowest end is in the mountain, pops out the back to a nice small animl storage and yard, the front door steps down but above has a small melon garden etc. It took awhile getting the wood and cobblestone, even detailed it a lot, created an inside bird cage with a few, and more.
