I once read an article about a reporter who went to interview Dolly when she was in her prime. He says he meet her at the family home at a time when all much of her extended family was visiting. He wrote that he had never seen so many beautiful woman all gathered in one room.
A great song written and sung by Dolly Parton. The camera light seems strong in her face so she is uncomfortable. Remember, they were touring most of the year. P.Wagoner said in an interview that in that time, they could do 200 shows on the road without a break. Imagine that, plus all the other things in her life going on. She was and still is a highly gifted woman, but above all a professional with grit and respect for all. She never got into drugs etc, always said her work was too important.
The true queen of country.
She could sing anything and make it superb but it's extra special when the singer writes and sings their own songs.
I am from the South Eastern Europe and have no connection to the South of the US whatsoever, but country is basically the only music i listen since i was a child. Simply lovely, honest music with lovely singers.
Dolly is anointed, shining for the lord and blessing people everywhere.
The "yeah" is so damn cute, also the yodeling too.
Well a good ways down the railroad track There was this little old rundown shack And in it lived a man I'd never seen Folks said he was a mean and a vicious man And you better not set foot on his land But I didn't think nobody could be that mean So I took me out walking down the railroad track I was a-gonna go down to that little old shack And just find out if all them things I'd heard was true There was a big black dog laying out in the yard And it growled at me and I swallowed hard And I heard somebody say well who are you Oh and there he stood in the door of that shack His beard and his hair was long and black And he was the biggest man I'd ever seen When he spoke his voice was low and deep But he just didn't frighten me 'Cause somehow…
I like how the old country songs had rap sections in them which was way before the term Rap Music came along.
I love Dolly giving tribute to Joshua bc that is one of my favorite names...
"The higher the hair, the closer you are to Jesus" - Said about every female country singer from back then.
Dolly's no dummy, she 's got a great sense of humor and self deprecating too. Quite a nice woman. I saw her tell an interviewer once, "IT COST A LOT OF MONEY TO LOOK THIS CHEAP.
She has extremely good singing technique! She never stretches her neck to get high notes--her larynx doesn't even move up. It's amazing to see a naturally talented singer like that.
She looks beautiful here,...that wig is a piece of art!
she is truly a storyteller
She's always had the nicest smile that always gives people a chance.
