I can see cross band repeat being a great addition to the hunting camp for emcomm.
Being disabled this is perfect for me to play radio with the rest of the world. Love the repeater aspect. That would really help me contact my friends in the high rocky mountains.
I would put this in my truck so I could host our weekly club net from inside the building, via my HT to the club repeater. Great video!
I wonder if that can be unlocked for GMRS, even though it technically violates FCC rules and regulations.
I would use it anytime I could just because it looks like a fun little radio and that's what it is all about! The repeater function is interesting. I could see a lot of cases where that might be pretty useful too.
Glad I found your video. I have been thinking of getting a new radio for my truck so I can use the old one as a base station in my computer room. Thanks for the information
Great video, I am looking to add a radio like this to my cache as I help out at Public Service Events. Use it as an inexpensive XBand Repeater or as a low power Remote Net Control Station.
VE3DWV here. Thanks for the video! Didn't know that that brand ( that no one knows how to pronounce or spell😂) made mobile rigs! Seems decent for the price. My friend could use one of these, as she is currently working a quansheng and a borrowed monoband 2 metre rig. Again, thanks for the video man!
Great video. Good to prove out the radio with the test equipment.
Thank you so much for doing this review - I have been looking for someone that has actually tried this guy out!
11:35 You mention Kerchunking. Its caused by a thing that we try to measure, called de-sense. We measure it with special set ups that can apply some signal to the receiver and simultaneously receive and look at the audio and measure its characteristics as we change the amount of signal we are applying. Its a little complex because you don't want to blow out your signal generator or the receiver your using to hear the tx audio. But, if you can do it, you can measure the amount of de-sense on a frequency pair you want to use. You can have de-sense even though your on a different band ! Imagine trying to eliminate de-sense with a vhf repeater with 600k separation ! UHF has 5 meg separation and that helps. Ive noticed that the diplexer in the ft-8900 is one of the best. Quality varies with these new Chines radios a ton ! Good video, thanks.
Great review, keep doing what you’re doing. I’d love this piece of kit
I live in a very small town and this would be perfect to get my voice further and make more contacts. Thanks for the review.
great review. I would use the crossband repeat to achieve local area communication ability for me and my family.
FY I : wouxun is pronounced whoa - SHUN 👍 Great comprehensive review. Definitely added to my "Wish List" 🙂 7 3 Edit : Just browsed your vids. Subscribed !
Good video ...I would use the cross band repeater at gatherings and events
I go camping often with my camper I would put this radio in my camper and use the x band repeat option to use my HT outside while enjoying the outdoors. Thanks for the giveaway option!!
BCL, BackLight, in menu, maybe "off for turn off the setting, or "zero" secs to keep the backlight on. Im thinking. good luck. Oh, after watching your repeater explination, WoW. Thanks, I learned soo much. /bow:hand-orange-covering-eyes:
Thank you for this video. I would be interested in using this with a couple of my licensed scoutmasters at camp
