@ericmueser

The girl who taught me how to not panic is panicking.
God help us.

@sus4nah

MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR PROFESSORS. MAKE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE. ANYONE COULD BE AN ASSET. CREATE A NETWORK.

@Kate-qf4iv

Well that is depressing as a mom to a freshman. But at least he is studying computer science and engineering... But it is always good to look at the world with eyes wide open . Thanks Erin! You rock!!

@remfan170

As a professor and a historian who focuses on the college curriculum, Erin is 1000% spot on here. The classes are just one small part. Erin, thanks for blending hope with a reality check. It's what this age range needs and it's so hard to strike that balance in tone.

@PositiveZ7

Remember trade jobs. So many people forget how vital trade jobs are. Vital trades are cheap to learn but the pay and benefits are increasing.

@tax.frauditor

100% on the money. I graduated in CIS and a lot of the ppl around me who complain about the job market are those who were solely focused on grades and made no effort to join professional orgs related to their degree or attend career fairs.

Good grades will get you through high school, but in college you need to develop professionally

@loomonda18

I'm just crying.... Crying crying crying....im not even in uni anymore, but as a young adult who still questions her current position, and has been trying to pivot, it's just so damn hard. Literally for anything.

@amieeclipse3725

Best piece of advice I’ve ever heard: they (companies) don’t care about a fancy piece of paper, they care about what you’ve actually done

@amethysttvgl1601

I wish someone would've told me all of this while I was still in college.... I graduated with so much hope 6 months ago and now I feel like I've already screwed up my life already because I didn't do a bunch of things I didn't know I needed to do. I can't find a job for the life of me because I don't have any skills that ai can't just do instead... I wish everyone else luck and hope that those still in college can avoid what I've done so that they can find a successful career amidst this massive shift.

@TeperzRae

As someone who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College in June 2020, I can tell you this degree means nothing. I was never advised to graduate with technical skills regardless of the degree I was going for, I was never taught about debt, budgeting, finance or investing. I was struggling to buy food & keep rent paid while working multiple part time jobs + going to school full time with no car. Life felt impossible (it still does at times especially with the economy & state of the world right now). These videos you make Erin really do help educate people on what's truly important! Thank you for being so honest & informative!! I've been following for years & love your content so much!!

@1818kitten

As someone who has graduated with 2 advanced degrees and is now working, this is very good advice! I hope this reaches the students who are in school and worried about their future and looking for guidance on what to do!

@1jruiz

I love your honesty and transparency. Be that person. Burst those toxic positivity bubbles. They will thank you in the long run!

@BlooperTanooki

I'm 32 and living in latin america so I really have no idea how things could be rn in the US market, but I can speak for myself of how anxious, difficult and tiring finding a good job in my career has been. Nobody deserves to go on another exhausting crusade to afford their lives especially after emerging victorious for college. I had to move cities, learn to adapt, expect nothing and be grateful for everything. And the struggle goes on.

@AdviceWithErin

This video isn’t in any way a critique on UofO, I just happened to be on campus & looking at all the college kids lol ❤ also I think it’ll all be okay! Bur if I had college kids? I’d listen to this video a few times. 😅

@jengreeeen

Reagan :) Reagan is how we got here :)

The majority of tuition was low to free until he jacked it up. And like all his policies, it was meant to make sure society rewarded the rich, punished the poor, and kept as many people uneducated and easily controlled as possible. Fun fact, a lot of universities in Europe are still free to attend!

@sammieoutloud

THIS 100% TRUE, that's why as long as my brother's goal is related to mine, I am inviting him to take an internship in my new company. It was also hard for me to get accepted as a freshgrad, and I just lately learned how though the industry is, I am just glad I have a current job now.

@Cyranon.

My daughter goes in the fall. She hopes to be a nurse practitioner when she's done. I hope she has an easy time of landing her dream job.

@FabulousKilljoy917

Yup! And I’m 7 years out of college, I lost my first job and have been looking for almost 2 years now…this market is so disappointing it makes me feel like I’m a broken toy, no one wants me & with how expensive everything is it’s just feeling bleaker and bleaker by the minute 😣

@richsamuel2922

My job is currently being automated... So glad I paid off my mortgage.

@clary4743

Any 20 something just extremely pissed off about the situation- not at Erin specifically- but how the expectation is for us to scramble and hustle for life, while there is no job security almost anywhere and we might never be able to afford houses and live comfortably anyway? Yay! So excited about the future!
