Funny story: When this song came out in 93-94 I was 19 years old. The name of the song always eluded me on the radio (they never mentioned the artist or title) and when I sang it to people they had no idea what I song I was talking about. I was sure it was Nirvana so I listened to every Nirvana album trying to find it and never did. I gave up and eventually forgot about it. 10 years later around 2003 it came on the radio and that's when the DJ said "Stone Temple Pilots with Creep". I laughed in the car and then cried thinking about how 10 years earlier I was sitting in my parents house scrambling to find the song, and how time had seemingly passed so fast. Now I'm a grown man. Funny memories...
"Feeling uninspired, think I'll start a fire" has new meaning for me after listening for years and years. That's why I love music. It's poetry. It's art.
Look how young Scott was in this video before drugs. The guy had a amazing career, definitely one of the best bands of the 90s.
This song is timeless. It will never go out of style.
Forward yesterday Makes me wanna stay What they said was real Makes me wanna steal Livin' under house Guess I'm livin', I'm a mouse All's I got is time Got no meanin', just a rhyme Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause it likes to heal Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause I like to steal Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause it likes to heal I like to steal I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be Half the man I used to be Feelin' uninspired Think I'll start a fire Everybody run Bobby's got a gun Think you're kinda neat Then she tells me I'm a creep Friends don't mean a thing Guess I'll leave it up to me Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause it likes to heal Take time with a wounded hand Guess I like to steal Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause it likes to heal I like to steal I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be Half the man I used to be Yea Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause it likes to heal Take time with a wounded hand Guess I like to steal Take time with a wounded hand 'Cause it likes to heal I like to steal I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be (This I feel as the dawn) (It fades to gray) Well, I'm half the man I used to be Half the man I used to be Half the man I used to be
Was looking for Radiohead Creep but found this....I'm not disappointed
This song takes me back to a time when the world seemed simpler, and the weight of life hadn't settled in so heavily. Each note is a poignant reminder of moments lost, of dreams that slipped through fingers like grains of sand. It's a melancholic symphony, an anthem for the broken-hearted souls who find solace in the haunting beauty of sorrow. I find myself drowning in the waves of nostalgia, clinging to the echoes of what once was, but can never be again.
I used to weigh 353 lbs, I now weigh 180 lbs, I can now sing “I’m half the man I used to be” with pride.

One of the most beautiful songs of all time!
They don't make music like this anymore. The 90's where the best.
RIP to Scott, Chris, Layne and Kurt. I'm an old dude and the 60's were a great time for music. The second best was right here in the 90's. From grunge to bands like Pantera and White Zombie to Beck and so many others. It was fresh. It was different. It was a good time to be young.
RIP Kurt Cobain RIP Layne Staley RIP Scott Weiland RIP Chriss Cornell RIP Chester Bennington
90’s music. we didn’t know to appreciate it as much as we should have . damn
The sadness in this song takes me back to being a teen in my senior year. Ending my HS years and getting ready for college. Never realized how deeply confused, depressed and scared I was when faced with "becoming an adult". Listening to it at 50, and it's a different kind of sadness (age starting to hit me and longing for youth). However, I wish I could go back to those days and tell my younger self that, "everything will be okay. That you will face a few more years of uncertainty but ultimately you will, for the most part, have a happy life. Just hang in there. Good things await." This song still moves me.
One of the most beautiful songs of that era. Deep and filled with that unique kind of suppressed emotion of that can only get channeled into grunge.
One of the best choruses ever written
I always revert back to my 90s grunge Rock when ever I need to forget or remember
RIP Scott Weiland RIP Chester Bennington RIP Chris Cornell RIP Layne Staley RIP Kurt Cobain Legends Forever
