Our version we've been playing for 15 years is called Saranac Differences: The only person to get a letter/strike is the person AFTER if the 8 ball gets sunk. Regardless of whether or not the next player in the sequence touches the queue ball. Thats an in-game phrase we call "sniping" You can only hit the 8-ball when it is on the opposite side of the table. Using both of the middle holes as a gray area for determining when the 8-ball is on the other side of the table. We play HORSE Style. But we spell SARANAC as our strikes.

We used to play this in college but we called it Amish pool. We also had a rule if you hit the 8 ball multiple time it would skip that many people. So if you hit the 8 ball twice it would skip to the person after the next person. It kept everyone paying attention when there was a lot of us playing

Love this game! We simply called it Deadball instead of CRUD. Here's an added stipulation we used to play by if you want to make it a little more challenging... You can only hit the 8 ball from the opposite end of the table. For example, divide the table into 2 halves at the center pockets. If the 8 ball is on side 1, you must throw the cue ball from the side 2 end. If the ball is rolling from side 1 to side 2, you can throw from side 1 if the 8 ball passes the mid-line before contact is made on side 2. We called it a "mid-line infraction" resulting in the loss of a life. Really forces some strategy. Adds a lot to the game imo.

we played where u had to be on the opposite end of the table where the 8 ball is. So if the ball is on one side of half of the table, you had to run to the other side. It made everyone run more & it was so much fun! Also we had 4 lives to spell out CRUD!

I watched the rules for yall. Heres what a side shot is So, you have 3 lives everytime a game starts. Theres kinds of shots you cant make, like shooting the 8 ball to yourself. And side shot is one of the ones you cant make. So, theres short and long sides of a pool table, the short one is the place you need to shoot the ball from. If you shoot it from the long side you lose a life.
