YouTube takes nearly half from monetized ads and all of it from unmonetized ones. They are not going to show fewer ads. Opt out if you want, ads are still going on your videos. If revenue is up 5 percent, they have already made hundreds of millions. You might not control where the ad goes, but it makes no difference. If someone wants to watch your video, they will sit through the break. Just like TV used to be. No need to stress.

@PawFromTheBroons

The fact that they very deliberately ignore chapter markers as placeholders, for natural breaks in the flow of the video, is bewildering.

@TreasureDemon

As a video consumer, I think YouTube’s biggest problem are the ads that are so annoying you have no choice but to stop watching. Horrible AI ads with oddly worded copy, topics that are off-topic like non-stop erectile dysfunction, slot ads that beg you to download the app and delete it (scam), or crazy weight loss scams. YouTube’s push for revenue is making videos unwatchable.

@ARoadBuilder

I don't think it will hurt anyone's channel. If people are interested in watching your video, they will manage with midroll ads.

@PEMBYSGAMINGWORLD

I listen to documentaries while I am working and one crime doc I was listening to was interrupted 10 times in a 15 minute period. This was at the beginning of the video! All I ask is that ads are fair and don't take the p**s!

@thewayofthetherapist

Attention Small Channels! Don't loose hope, you will look back and be proud that you stuck it out. Keep Going! 💯

@COIFISHGAMING

Mid Rolls were actually making people leave videos as nothing breaks pacing like a badly placed Ad. I cannot live without Premium

@Rykyuby

Part of me feels bad for using ad blockers because it hurts the content creator but the other parts wants to tell yt to stop being greedy by ruining videos by adding ads mid video

@BackToTheBoomBap

I don't think it's that big of a deal. As a viewer, I don't wanna see ads anyway. As a content creator, I'm not making that much money off ads right now anyway. Hopefully that will change, but that will only be based on me getting a lot more views.

@modern_bards_comedy

Looks like YouTube's monetization updates are the plot twist we never asked for—kind of like finding out your fridge is empty right before meal prep. Who’s ready for a budget-friendly dinner of air sandwiches?

@LorDofNerdsOfficial

It's a super annoying feature - YouTube redflags most manual placements, even if they're in the perfect spot. It would be great if they then at least would provide a suggestion where to place it instead. But no, you have to try over and over again until it fits somewhere or you give up.

@GGGryphonZ

Since I currently have a job and VA disability, the money I receive from YouTube is simply just extra that I am thankful for (even though I don't generate enough views to even make the threshold every month). I don't need it for bills or anything. I know people don't like ads and possibly don't have funds for premium. So, I personally place ads in the beginning and the very end (if they decide to stay in the end) so the viewing experience isn't diminished. Ad placements can definitely make or break a channel, or a video if the placements are too much. Most of the time, its YouTube's automatic system. Though there are creators that go crazy with it.

@CheapAngler

Prepare for every sight gag joke to be ruined by an ad.

@upstagedbyadog

YouTube has not done enough to alert Creators, I'm sure many, most don't know this is happening. This should have been an opt-in, not opt-out. I've let YT suggest ad breaks for my videos and it's terrible. First ad break within 90 seconds of start - I think many would stop watching there ... Other breaks occur in mid-sentence, or in what might look like a 'break' to AI, but a human can tell it's not.

@SmilefunnywithGracy

I know for sure that someday we will be here to congratulate ourselves and be greatful.. joy be sure at last

@RadOpsTV

That’s all lies… what they need to do is stop exiting my full screen video to show an ad, and also when I pause the video, stop minimizing the player!! I hate having to lock the screen to prevent this. Makes me leave the app.

@holdmyling

I am not even monetized yet still watched the full video 😂

@toadgaming4

Thx so much for the update. Even though I'm not monetized yet, this'll be incredibly useful when I am

@myslicechannel

Not something I need to worry about - at this rate I'll never be monetized!
