The Pentel Glidewrite writes beautifully -- much better + smoother than the Acros
Thanks. As someone who is also left handed, it really does make a difference what kind of pen you use as left handers put pressure differently on the pen and hold it differently and while it shouldn't make a different it does and not all pens are created equal. I've been really enjoying the uniball signo. It's smooth and doesn't skip like most pens do because of how I hold it.
I love faber castell poly ball 😊❤
Had to run over to Amazon and grab a S20. Thank you so much for the links! This is a cool looking pen. I am anxious to get this one.
The GlideWrite has a nice looking body, but I wish it could take a gel or rollerball refill. The metal Muji that takes Energel refills is a nice idea.
One pen I've really been enjoying lately is the Uni One P. It's a nice little stubby pen that writes great, and I like to keep it as my front pocket pen. I have a bad habit of leaving my main pen on my desk at work, and it's nice to have a quality backup in my front pocket so when the phone rings, I don't have to dive into one of the random pen cans (with all of the cheap advertising pens and ancient Bic Round Sticks that have lost their caps) to take notes. 😧
Big fan of the S20 mechanical pencil. Best wishes for a great 2025.
Love this channel. It has been essential for adding to my collections of pen...but i also really enjoy mechanical pencils. No one but my students really enjoy using my collections i take to work. I am a para and love math and work in Mid-school algebra class. One of my favorite things is if I bring the flavor of the day painter pencil. The kids will use it to do math words. They wouldn't have done it with a regular Boring standard yellow pencil. They will try the math just to use the pencil.Or pen it's cool. Love my job and of course they don't want to give it up but that's okay.
the Uni Zento uses a completely different ink formulation to the One series - it's not just a regional rebrand. The Zento is also sold (and much hyped/sought after) in Japan. According to Uni, they spent 6 years developing the Zento ink to reduce feathering and write smoother compared to the One ink, but the One ink is blacker (the latter point being reported/shown by users)
I picked up a couple pens from company called Flex. Made in Vietnam. Ball point. Two for 75 cents USD. Cheap pen. Looks good. Writes beautifully. More coming out of India and Malaysia as well. May not be the same quality as the Japanese stuff, but on a price/value ratio they are outstanding. I’ve noticed that when ordering on Amazon Japan the shipping charges are outrageous. It’s hard to believe that it’s so expensive to pop a pen or two in an envelope that has bubble wrap inside and mail it. That it costs 10 bucks.
I use energel refills in my Uni One. No mods needed. Sarasa refills also fit.
Besides Energel, that Muji Aluminum Hexagaonal pen nicely runs the Uniball Zento refill. It will also take Sharpie S-Gel refills but there is a little more play in the tip with those.
The Mujis seem nice for minimalistic pens. Not nearly as pretentious as Lamy.
Can you compare the zento to uni one f?
With the Faber Castell Poly Ball Urban XB, swap out the Faber refill for a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 M refill + it writes beautifully
I've liked the Uni One and never run into reliability issues. Of course, I've never been able to hold on to one long enough to discover issues.
Crunchy mechanisms are always awful to use! In the same league as tip wobble/rattle for me. At least for tip wobble/rattle, I've been able to fix that by putting some cotton from a cotton ball down the barrel at the tip. I haven't tried it, but maybe it's worth a trying some sewing machine oil or teflon grease to get the click operating smoothly again.
I've been wanting a pen that takes a parker G2 thats smaller than a jotter with a flusher cap, What is the smallest pen that takes a Parker G2 ❓(other than a tornado)
Very cool pens this month! Would it be possible to compare the Zento to the Signo refills?
