I've grown food before so here's my tips;

1: like the other comments say, be very careful not to over-water and have proper drainage (which helps expel the extra water). Be careful of humidity too, too much humidity can breed bacteria or fungus on ur plants.

2: If your plants start to "lean" towards the window, they probably need more light, or just need to be rotated about 90⁰ once or twice a day. If they need more light, you may need a grow-light or put them outside if that's possible.

3: Prune your herbs and deadhead (cutting off weak/dead stems) to encourage growth.

4: If u want to dry your herbs, I use the dehydration setting on my airfryer (200⁰ F for a few hours in a regular oven works too) and a spice grinder

5: Basil and oregano is very easy and pretty fast growing! My basil grew about 3x its original height (which my mother nicknamed "The Tree")

I have never seen this kind of kitchen window before. This is awesome.

@rwdswght4057

I think your cat wants a dedicated spot to love particularly on that windowsill

@anyelina8051

PLEASE be careful not to overwater them. It’s a very common mistake first time plant parents do. I most certainly did at the beginning as well!
For the next repotting, I would recommend you switch to planters with some drainage at the bottom to prevent possible root rot, and also allow for bottom watering if you prefer ☺️
Good luck and enjoy your new plant babies!

@dinachristine

i have always wanted a garden window!i am green with envy 💚

@Teacupvamp

I recommend steeping any leftover banana peels in water overnight and then using the banana water to water the plants! Very easy, effective,and food safe fertilizer. You can let it sit for a few days too but make sure to check no mold starts growing

@vb4377

Tip one-a lot of herbs and veggies need to be watered on the bottom (into the drainage plate)
Tip two-make sure none of these plants are harmful to kitty as he might bite them when you’re not around 🪴

@tired_mom

It came out so cute!! So jealous of the garden window!

@EstherMa22

I killed way tooo many of plants. The first reason that I realized later was I never fertilized them. Just sunshine and water is not enough. So fertilize them according to instructions. And also, replant them into bigger pots when they start to outgrow the current pot. With herbs it’s less important but your baby tomato will eventually desperately demand a bigger space to live in 😆🥰

@LM-uc5sg

I have a hard time watching this channel because I get too green-with-envy of your perfect home 😂 (I’ll keep watching)

@2fortsmostwanted

You have my dream kitchen. My herb tip: basil is very easy to grow because it is very easy to tell when it needs watered, just watch for droopy leaves. Just be careful not to let it wilt or burn in bright sun. Basil seeds sprout quickly and easily. Mint is also super easy and you can grow roots from cuttings in glasses of water—infinite mint!

@DatsmypurseIDKY

The lego chrysanthemum was a nice touch, I love mine. I 6 all of the lego plants❤😅

@catcolb11

Please make sure none of your plants are toxic to cats. The ASPCA has a list on their website. Many things that we eat cannot be safely ingested by our furry friends.

@kristinakate

Your tomato will get very large if it gets enough light and water! The roots grow very quickly. Once he doubles in size, double his pot size too.

@GoldenFrizbee

Terracotta pots are awesome and provide great drainage. You can get cute styled ones. I recommend find a local garden center and they might even repot your plants for you with a purchase of a terracotta pot.
