GRAAAPE ESCAAAAAPE. I always think of that and GUM GUYS

@lyttlephetus5241

I was born in 86. this was my favorite game ever growing up. I still dream about it lol

@AustynSN

The catapult is marketing genius. Kids throw their play-doh on the carpet, it gets dirty and useless, and their parents have to buy them more play-doh.

@GrimlanderMG

I had the original grape escape game when I was a kid. The molded grapes were softer when the pack was first opened, so all the traps worked beautifully. Sadly after repeated plays, the ‘goop’ got drier and harder, and the rubber bands dried out and snapped, needing to be replaced repeatedly. It was a game that definitely deteriorated with time but it was definitely fun.

@Mihael-cs4ek

I remember Parker being number 1 in 90s. When i watched german tv, every commercial had at least 1 Parker product.

@spiritofvoljin8561

I remember playing the original Grape Escape and never knew it was given updated versions. The nice thing about the original was that you could end up smashing your own grape due to the randomness of the dice, but it seems in the newest version you'll never do that since you have to land on the tile.... maybe they thought it was less fun to cause the destruction of your own grape. Everything just gets cheaper as new versions are created.

@DreamDancer82

My mom would never have let us have this one as a kid. She wouldn't let us have anything Play-Doh related (kinda don't blame her nowadays). But I have always LOVED the original commercial. My sister and I still sing it every now and again.
Make 'em, take 'em
Through the factory
Smash 'em. MASH 'em!
Now you're history
A little BAM! And now you're jam
Hey, you're a little out of shape
That's the way you go it when you play the Grape Escape

@joycongirl

you are an amazing creator, i reallyu hope you hit it big. it'll probably happen eventually, board games are popping off on youtube rn

@ChrisWagner89

Grape Escape was one of my favorite games as a kid. I've recently seen a game called Kitchen Escape by the German company Craze, which is basically a Grape Escape knockoff but it looks like it plays like classic Grape Escape except that you play as onions and most traps are different. But they are all operated by turning the crank.

@rat488

btw the trick to getting the saw to work is you put your grapes hands in the spot between the cones and it works very well then.

@alenyvelazquez2046

I really appreciate how in depth and informative these videos are while also being entertaining. I’m glad your videos are hitting people recommendations, bc this is great content!!

@Abcde7213

You unlocked a deep memory. I had grape escape as a kid

@GentlemanSlendy

The art on the original is so good! I'm honestly thinking about finding a copy for myself.

@Cezaelizabeth

Id forgotten all about this game. Thank you for unlocking a memory! 😊

@AtticRaidersRetroReviews

Absolutely can't beat the original in this case - the board art alone is SO much more involved than the re-releases. And the fact that the traps are connected together and set each other off, instead of having to be operated by hand individually, really sells it. As you're doing comparisons, interestingly, there's a number of differences between the 1992 "Parker Brothers" release and the "Parker" release (which came with official Play-Doh, but is still copyrighted as 1992...) - both have not only different box art, but the the sculpt detail of the trap components differs and the artwork on the board is subtly different too. I'm guessing it's region specific release thing (UK/Europe vs US?) that has caused the changes, but I'm not entirely certain.

@yinyinkei2113

This is my first time learning about the game! Very informative and a great video :D I'd definitely check the game out one of these days

@jensboffin7225

I'm enjoying the reviews a lot. I like the comparison style. You deserve more views

@surnis9043

Hasbro should get the SAW license. It would be so easy to make a re-skin of this torture game!

@jordanhass

I still got the commercial jingles in my head

Smash Em Crash Em It's How You Play The Game

@lipranditoys

Very very good video, as always. One more thing that I don't like about the 2022 version is that 2 out of 4 traps are just hand operated blades. It's too repetitive, for a game in which the fun would be seeing creative ways to destroy your grape.
