Former Starbucks barista here and I sadly had the misfortune of working that dreaded weekend they launched the unicorn. It was a 3 day weekend event and Corporate had sent every location only enough ingredients for it to last for that long. However, they did not anticipate the incredible overwhelming demand for this thing and every store nationwide was absolutely SLAMMED and most locations ran out of ingredients in the first 24hrs. it was a hot mess of a company wide launch for sure!! But so rememberable that I still got asked it about years after.
“But it was also 👹 AdOrAbLe” 😂😂 the mega mind forehead made it even more funny 😅
I am so excited for this video!! Like the unicorn Frappuccino, the soap is also beautiful and disgusting if you eat it :)
I see so much ‘junk’ stuff being made and diy’d lately and I’d loveeee to see a ‘junk’ collection or bar. If you do a whole junk collection there could be themes like ‘pink junk’, ‘neon junk’, ‘dark/spooky junk’ and each collection has the most random mix mash of embeds covering the entire slab (but the embeds obviously stick to each theme) Spooky/dark for example- black bats, grey ghosts, charcoal skulls, witch hats, black gum balls, deep dark colored eye balls, broken hearts! Ooo this could be fun!
The color morphing is giving 90’s Taco Bell! Also, I use bar soap in my shower probably because of you 🥰
16:53 also looks like a really cool mermaid tail 😸
I remember using body wash in college because it was easier for hauling from my room and not having to worry about having a place for the bar soap to dry.
College Student Here! I'd say 95% of the girls use shower gel. I think more of the guys use bar soap although some of them use three in one shampoo, shower gel, conditioner (yikes). I have seen some people use artisan bar soaps at their sinks (some of our dorms have private sinks in rooms). I personally would like to see a collegic soap collection to use at my sink! I think kids our age would love sugar scrubs and whipped soap for body care.
I'm in university at the moment so I can contribute! From my experience, most people are using body wash in the shower. It's either dollar store generic brand stuff or expensive skincare stuff. Where people tend to splurge soap-wise is with hand soap for the sinks. I also think people might be interested in shampoo or conditioner bars.
the whole gifting story is so cute and perfect for this soap design i love that, so sweet
I think smaller bars (like half or a quarter of the size) would do better with college students. So maybe a little set? Or a break apart bar where it's half one scent/design and half another? Nice artisan soap would be a medium sized luxury for college students. Something to be used on self care days or after bad ones to feel better. The novelty of trying a new scent or getting to choose one from a little collection could make that sweeter. For ideas, I find myself missing the smell of fresh laundry, wildflowers, and baked goods when I'm home sick and end up gravitating towards products with those themes. Maybe a home based collection or one focused on the sights and smells of different US regions with the idea being to take a bit of home with you.
As a university student l just use whatever soap is available to me. (Though I will admit I kinda splurged a little recently and got a few of your soaps) it’s just a matter of whatever’s easiest to get access to in the moment. I will say I do think that bar soap is doing a better job of cleaning up than the liquid soaps my mom usually gets me!
I worked at Starbucks when the unicorn frap happened and I LOOOOOOOVED making it. It was so much fun
I think a Willy Wonka or Bridgerton collection would be super fun.
I am a current university student and honestly, we use whatever is cheapest and smells the best. In most cases, I buy body wash but want to be more conscious about the environment. Bar soap is better to use in that case. I would love a university collection!
The one and only time i made cold process soap it was with my grandmother. I miss her so much. Anyway, we were super careful with the lye. I think the soap recipe was directly on the lye container. We used lard of some kind, and made it in a plastic trash bag lined cardboard box in the middle of the front yard to avoid any fumes. And then we just left it there, in the yard, overnight with the top flaps folded closed and we cut it the next day. It was just simple white soap, unscented. I don't remember anything else about it. I don't remember using it or what we did with most of it. But I loved it. And that's part of why I love these videos. It reminds me of my grandmother and our great times together. I have made a few glycerin soaps since then because it's more accessible. But one day I hope to make more cold process.
I am a soap maker and I use my own soap in my shower. Currently I am doing a commission for my friend's wedding, she wants 120 bars with orange and cedarwood essential oils, a dried orange slice and a cedar chip on top, and no colorant. I'm blending up the last 3 loaves today!
When I was working, I never seemed to have time, but i had enough money for what I needed. In retirement, I have plenty of time, but some extra miney would sure come in handy!
I'm a graduate student now, but when I was an undergrad, I and most everyone around me was using body wash. In a dorm setting where you're bringing in a shower caddy, a bar soap is harder to transport and use than a bottle of shower gel.
