Growing up in rural Japan, surrounded by rice paddies, these songs, during my teenage years, offered a glimpse into a glamorous and sophisticated adult world—one that felt light-years away in places like California’s West Coast or the bustling streets of New York City.

Late at night, when the house was quiet and my family was fast asleep, I’d retreat to my room, play cassette tapes I’d recorded from the radio, and lose myself in the stories these songs told. I rent secretly from my dad’s suit and a cigarette, balanced in my mouth, and pretending to sip a cocktail, I would imagine myself living that chic, cosmopolitan lifestyle with many friends and American beautiful lover. Was my imaginary lover's name Mary? Susan?? Linda???😀😀😀

For this set, I’ve adjusted the BPM slightly to evoke the nostalgic feel of the era, but kept it simple and true to the original sounds — no flashy effects here.
