Just a quick note: I’ve decided to drop the label “Yacht Rock” from the channel.Why? Well, let me take you back.
The term "Yacht Rock" was born in the early 2000s as an internet in-joke—a wink-and-nod way to talk about the smooth, sun-drenched sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s. You know the kind: songs that felt like your dad just tossed you the keys to his Cadillac Seville (or Honda Legend, if you're on this side of the Pacific) and said, “Don't mess up the leather seats.” And there you were, cruising down the boulevard, radio humming, windows down.
But here’s the thing: the more I lived with this music, the more I realized—it’s way bigger than a punchline.
The sound we’re celebrating here goes deeper. It’s not just polished California pop. It’s Soul, R&B, Jazz Fusion, Blue-Eyed Soul, and everything in between. It’s the sound of grown-up emotions played through analog boards and vintage amps. It's music that echoes from old stereo speakers—foam surrounds half-cracked, but still holding on—**reminding you that warmth doesn't always come from perfection, but from intention.
So I’m going with the name that always told the truth:AOR – Adult Oriented Rock.The original name. Less ironic, more respectful. Because these artists weren’t kidding. They weren’t aiming for meme culture. They were chasing feeling, depth, and groove.
The music hasn’t changed.Neither has the love—or the obsession with a perfectly timed key change before a slow fade-out.
We’re still on the water.We just traded the white blazer for a worn denim jacket with some soul in the seams.

さて、ちょっとしたお知らせがあります。このチャンネルから“Yacht Rock”というラベルを外すことにしました。
「ヨットを降りるのか？」と思われるかもしれませんが、そうじゃないんです。
“Yacht Rock”という言葉は、2000年代初頭のネット文化から生まれた、ちょっと皮肉めいた呼び名でした。70年代後半〜80年代前半のスムースで日差しを感じるような音楽を、軽いジョーク混じりで再発見しようというムーブメントだったんです。親父からキャデラック・セビル（もしくはホンダ・レジェンド）の鍵を渡されて、「革シート、絶対に傷つけるなよ」って言われるような、そんな感覚の音楽。窓を開けてクルーズしながら、カーステレオからあのメロディが流れる——そんな風景が浮かびます。
でもね、長くこの音楽と向き合ってきて、こう思うようになったんです。
これはジョークにしておくにはもったいなさすぎる。
このチャンネルで流れている音楽は、「ヨットに乗って優雅に」だけじゃない。ソウル、R&B、ジャズ・フュージョン、ブルー・アイド・ソウル……そしてその全部が交差する、深くて大人の音楽。ミックスの裏には緻密なスタジオワークがあって、詞には本気の感情があって、グルーヴには人生の機微が詰まってる。
思い出すのは、古いステレオスピーカーの音。スポンジのエッジは少しひび割れてても、まだ低音はしっかりと鳴ってる。完璧じゃなくても、音に込められた意図と熱量があれば、それだけで温かい。
だから、原点に立ち返ります。AOR——Adult Oriented Rock。
キャッチーさは控えめかもしれない。でも、こっちのほうが本当の姿を語ってる。これは、ミームじゃなくて、魂で作られた音楽なんです。
音楽は変わりません。この愛も、最後のフェードアウト前に仕込まれた転調への執着も、何も変わらない。私たちはまだ航海の途中。ただ、白いブレザーを脱いで、柔らかなデニムジャケットに着替えただけ。
