Awake! O Sleeping GIANT of Africa is a poem that chronicles the many problems Nigeria and the Nigerians are plagued with which have caged them from realising their true potentials.

These include issues of bad leadership, the multifaceted culture of corruption, the nonchalant attitude of the Nigerian government towards education, insecurity and inequality, brain drain, unemployment, dwindling national economy, abject poverty in the midst of plenty, lack of unity and tranquility, the lost of value for life and a host of other devils.

It was Nelson Mandela who said, and I quote,

"The world will never respect Africa until Nigeria earns that respect. The black people of the world are looking to Nigeria to be a source of pride and confidence. Every Nigerian should be made to know this."

This great quote from one of the greatest freedom fighter in the world informs the idea of this piece entitled: Awake! O Sleeping GIANT of Africa: A Wake-up Call to Nigeria.
