Conditional formatting will format a cell based on a condition that you specify. This example shows how to use a formula to apply conditional formatting. There are lots of other options you can play around with in the Conditional Formatting button on the Home tab of the ribbon.

Because this example only contains two values (Naughty or Nice), you wouldn’t actually have to do the second condition. You could set your formatting to in the name column to be black with white text. Then create the Nice condition so that the cell turns green if the person is listed as nice.
