Hampton Hawes was stationed in Japan for military service as a member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
During this period he often interacted with Japanese jazz musicians and had jam sessions.
Hawes, who returned to Japan as part of a world tour of jazz performances in May 1968, recorded a jam session which immerse yourself in memories with his old Japanese friends at the time.
