"The Tomb of Amyntas is a famous rock-cut tomb located in the cliffs overlooking the modern-day city of Fethiye, Turkey, which was once the ancient Lycian city of Telmessos. The tomb dates back to the 4th century BC and is believed to have been built for Amyntas, likely a Lycian ruler or nobleman, as suggested by the Greek inscription on the tomb that reads: "Amyntas, son of Hermapias."

The tomb is one of the most iconic examples of Lycian rock-cut architecture, designed to resemble the façade of a temple. The entrance to the tomb is carved to look like a Doric temple, with columns supporting a pediment. Though it was never fully excavated and entered in ancient times, it remains an impressive architectural feat, showcasing the skill and artistry of the Lycian civilization.

The tomb is part of a larger necropolis filled with similar rock-cut tombs, though Amyntas' is the most prominent due to its size and location, which offers a stunning view of Fethiye and the surrounding coastline. The tombs were built to honor the dead, as the Lycians believed that higher placement on the cliffs would bring them closer to the gods in the afterlife."
