Toshiko Akiyoshi has formed a rehearsal band with Lew Tabackin since the spring of 1973 and has been practicing hard, and this is their memorable first album.
With all songs composed and arranged by Akiyoshi, the originality and high degree of perfection of the band led them to grow into one of the leading big band in this jazz world.
"Kogun" is a japanese creation and performance of jazz, and you can hear the crystallization of struggle to naturally mix the two different cultural traditions and heritages of the East and the West without compromise.
