YES! You can use a Baofeng UV-5R, and most other Baofeng radios, ham radios, GMRS radios and even some FRS radios as a scanner. In this video I explain what you can listen to with a Baofeng ham radio or Baofeng UV-5R and similar radios and how to configure a Baofeng to work like a scanner. I also explain how to find frequencies to listen to near you and what the different scanning-options are and what those scanning menu options do. This is NOT an in-depth highly detailed video, this is more of a high-level overview of using a Baofeng as a police scanner.
