Reddit, Twitch, Amazon, & Others Go Dark As Cloud Provider Fastly Experiences An Outage | PurpleSec

136 4________

Reading over the articles this morning really got me thinking about how interconnected everything is and how important it is to protect those systems and applications that connect us.

Single points of failure, even with built-in redundancies, still represent the weakest link in our defenses. The Fastly CDN outage is just one of many examples of recent cyber attacks that we've reported this year.

One theme that is continued to be seen are attacks on downstream supplies. That is, threat actors are increasingly targeting those with inadequate security measures who in turn have access to more protected, yet valuable targets.

We've seen this in the SolarWinds attacks, Accellion data breach, and even in the Pulse Secure VPN breach. This is why it's so critical that organizations do the due diligence on every vendor they do business with.
